I just had to laugh tonight at the news that Mexican guitarist Rodrigo Sanchez has been denied a US visa allegedly because he has a similar name to another Mexican who is wanted by the US State Department. How dumb are they?
But then it's easy to laugh at the Americans...
At the same time, we'll give a passport to anyone. Ten thousand fake ones issued including two given to wanted terrorists. How dumb are we?
Maybe Rodrigo Sanchez should change all the dates of his tour and come to the UK instead. As a fugitive from justice in the US he should be able to find lots of like-minded people here that will flock to see him and hear him play.

Well done Moose - a good start. I'll follow your example tomorrow.

I'm too tired to comment on everyone's comments, but wanted to say thanks to one and all for another great day's blogging!
And, inspired by the 'getting-off-my-butt' theme .... I have gone and booked and payed for my Reiki First Degree on May 19th! I am so chuffed with myself and so excited!
Perhaps I will achieve all I want to in 2007!!!
Thanks guys!
I have a boon to crave please...
I spent most of last night on the telephone to a friend, then to another friend who has been left by his girlfriend, just for a week while she decides what to do.
The bubbly bath I had run for myself went cold, my hot milk got drunk way too early by the time I got to bed, and the nytol started kicking in part way through my fifth conversation.
So I didn't measure myself. So I'm going to do it tonight. Flood, famine, plague of locusts, pestilence (other forces majeure and apocalyptic horsemen available) will not stop me. The only thing which may delay me slightly is that I can't quite figure out the ND website...
Why am I finding it so difficult?
...and JUST as I was enjoying a lovely warm snuggly sleep, the boy got into bed (around 0530 - working nights again, again) and promptly started talking to me (WHY???? I gave no indication that I was awake-ish as far as I am aware) about the telephone calls as listed above. So I am still not in that happy club for accomplishing a full eight hours shuteye.
Any help for the ND website gratefully received...

Please can you poke me with a stick periodically so I at least look as though I'm alert...
Good morning lovely people,
I have missed you guys.
Have tried to speed read yesterday's but it's no good - I always try to do it backwards (!) which is ridiculous of me.
I have sick child at home so, again, very little time to blog.
Methinks that the OAMC didn't happen but I haven't got to any conclusive evidence of such in my reading - the fact that Moose posted last night is, I guess, pretty conclusive.
Am hoping to be able to catch up on all your postings of these last few days - I think I last appeared on saturday morning.
I am sorry if I am not commenting on really important stuff that has happened for any of you. It's because I haven't read it yet.
Loving all your work
Miss you
Gaby

Anna - I just remembered your post on saturday about me and Matthew Wright - that did make me smile : )
Oh, the boon...please can I be allowed an extra day on the measuring?
Thank you
Yrs.

The OAMC didn't happen (again)unfortunately due to weather restrictions (again). The trains from Brighton were again 'subject to change' so the chances of me getting home were (again) slim.
We are very much hoping that Moose, with his incredible powers of prediction, will NOT choose another date when it will be snowing - baring in mind the 100% record to date...but I expect this depends on what side of the trees the moss is currently growing on.
.....message ends STOPX
I also have no measurements to give you yet, what I may start to do is to measure round the waistline with something universal that I am likely to have to hand (it will probably be loo roll!) to give you all an idea of how things are progressing!
As for calorific stuff
Cals Needed 2689 (300 extra allowance as baby is sucking all the nutrient form my food!)
Yesterday - 2071 kcal consumed - the weight is dropping off me - Thanks to moose for pointing me int he direction of a fab website - and it almost looks like work!
Am guessing that some of my portion sizes were a bit off on the calculator thingy so think I'm about right :o)
Super cold here - heating has been off for two days now - am sat huddled round an electric heater and eying the thermometer which is slowly creeping towards 16 degrees - I don't think it can be good for the baby! I should be allowed to leave forthwith!
:o) Jo
Am at home this morning. I too have a sick child in bed asleep upstairs (#1). High temperature and generally listless. He was off school yesterday too, but Mrs Moose has a meeting regarding some freelance work she may be doing for a travel company.
So I am in the kitchen, listening to Ken Bruce and drinking coffee and blogging. Ken Bruce is the difference between this and what I'd be doing if I was at work!
I have been out to the gym this morning but only to steam/sauna/jacuzzi as I'm too stiff and tired to do anything else this morning!
I have to say that already after 2 days of this regime, I am feeling absolutely fantastic. I am so looking forward to May, imagining how I'm going to feel after 63 days of this!!!
Gaby - was wondering what was up...hope child gets better soon. Mine seems to want to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (he got it for his birthday) but I've told him he's got to sleep.
Within 2 minutes he was out cold!
Hello and good morning!
First - please, please, don't think I am backing out of my pledge yesterday - I am definitely going to lose weight! However, the next WW meeting I can attend is next Tuesday lunchtime - there are meetings every day this week, but I can't make any of them. However, I thought I might start today on 1,250 calories a day - is that about right Moose? For a very fat, fifty year old who hasn't even contemplated dieting for about three years?! I don't own scales, so I will find out what I weigh on Tuesday. Should be good for a laugh if nothing else!
Second, well I spoke to Mr S! He said to me "Nothing you will ever say, could surprise me"! He thinks it's a great idea, talking to people I don't know, but is a TINY bit concerned how I manage to fit in any time to work - which of course, I don't! However, he thinks it is entirely my own "baby" and he will not be involved but said to say "hi" to everyone! Also, he is embarking on the weight loss programme too!
So, there we are - the rest of the week should be a breeze now!
Gaby - good to hear from you! Even just a few words every now and then lets us know you are o.k! Hope your wee tootsie gets better soon.
Jo - in the "good old days" we had such a thing as Health & Safety where the workplace had to be a certain temperature - not too hot, not too cold. Now, (if my bosses are anything to go by) we just have to be grateful we are not unemployed! My bosses are stuck in the 1980's when Mrs Thatcher taught them to treat staff any way they saw fit and indeed her idea of looking after the masses was "Let them eat cake"! Oooh, I did NOT like Margaret Thatcher! (Hope it's o.k. to be a little political!).
C xx
Chrissie (or should I call you Ben Elton!) - 1,250 a day should be fine. The ND site will calculate more accurately for you if you want to. The good thing I find there is that you calculate your exercise calories and they are then extra - either to eat and enjoy something else (or drink...) or to feel great about NOT using them. Somehow feels better than a strict static daily allowance - but it's a personal thing so do what's good for you.
Morning all. After a long night last night (a magical one tho!) and an early morning wake up call from the man cub i took the decision to work from home today. Amazing how effective i can be with Phil & Fern discussing womens problems in the back ground.
Hope Moose and Gaby's little ones sleep lots and mend quickly. Reminds me of being poorly as a kid, mum used to give me tomato soup and cheese, oinion & salad cream sandwiches, always made me feel better. Especially when i dunked. Hmm, wonder how many calories that menu has!?
Susan S - your weight data did not suggest to me that you are massively overweight at all, nor does your photo. i'm echoing lyndyloos comments from yesterdays blog.
Right, going to start a long procrastinated sponsorship strategy...... tea anyone?
xx
Jo - I sympathise with you in the cold. Try and keep moving about a bit - that seems to help. We had no heating on Monday and the boss had hidden the thermometer so we couldn't confirm the temperature and demand to go home!
My sympathies to those of you with poorly bambini at home, I've just got a husband with a dose of man flu. He'd better get over it soon - we're going away next week.
Hazel - consider yourself poked with a stick! > > >>> (supposed to be sharp pointy marks) Can you keep the snoring down in the South East corner of the country? You're keeping the rest of us awake!
Moose - if you go to Alaska on your holidays be sure to wear a disguise. The ND site lists raw Moose meat as an Alaskan native dish!!! apparently it counts as Ethnic food?
AN EXERCISE PLAN THAT REALLY WORKS
A guy calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss
program. The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands
before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing
but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign round her neck. She
introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads: "If you can catch me, you can have me." Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few miles later, huffing and puffing, he finally catches her and has his way with her. The same girl shows up
for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10 lb. as promised.
He then calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads:
"If you catch me you can have me." Well, he's out the door after her
like a shot! This girl is in excellent shape and it takes him a while to catch her; but when he does, it's definitely worth every muscle cramp and wheeze. For the next four days, the same routine happens.
Much to his delight, on the fifth day he weighs himself only to discover that he has lost another 20 lb. as promised.
He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program. "Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone, "This is our most rigorous program." "Absolutely," he replies," I haven't felt this good in years." The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds this huge, muscular, 7 ft man
standing there, wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that read: "I'm Dave. If I catch you, you're mine..."

annalog - many thanks.
I also have Jo :0) sending me regular stick poking pictures by email (and we wonder why the NHS is in such a mess???) so am upright (at present) with eyes open (at present).
I am forcing myself to sit with the door open as it is such a beautiful day. I am reassuring myself that the shivering I am currently suffering is using vast amounts of calories.
and finally, from the Pedants of the UK Unite website...

Hope Moose and Gaby's kiddies are on the mend soon xxxx {{{{hugs}}}} to both.
Mfr - thanks for the snippet re CLP. lucky you sharing the sauna with him you will be the envy of many women! Hope you didn't put too much water on the coals :o)))
Jo - I sympathise with you being in the cold. Have plenty hot drinks to try and keep warm. Wish I could send you some heat through the pc :o)
Chrissie - Mr S sounds a nice man very support and understanding.
Moose - I haven't got my head around the ND website yet. I've been feeling poorly last few days and only had about 8 hours sleep since Friday so I'm thinking in slow motion :o) - no different to any other time really :o))) Will work it out later or email you if I need some help :o)
Bye for now

Hazel (and other pedants)
Sir Elton Hercules John will indeed be 60 on 25th March (this Sunday).
But I was talking about Benjamin Charles Elton who will be 48 in a few weeks time. And he went to the same Uni as me...but not at the same time as me. I'm not that old. Yet. He was there at the same time as my brother though. But my brother didn't know him. So no six degrees connection there.
And I meant the political anti-Thatch satire aspect rather than the age...
Oh dear dear me, how silly, I'd forgotten about dearest Benny. He'd be heart-broken if he knew! Thank you for reminding me of his birthday. I can get him a lovely pressie now instead of a belated card!
Perhaps a Mediterranean Cruise or something similar as it is such a special birthday, and they are doing them on special in First Choice (other travel agents are still just about available which haven't yet been taken over by TUI).
Reginald Kenneth Dwight will also be 60 this Saturday. In the meantime, I will not be here tomorrow, as my Step-Dad will be 70 years old, and we are having a big family lunch.
Has anyone seen this chicken?

I was actually in the sauna first, so I was waiting for CLP to go for the water before gently reminding him of his blog.
His was a gentleman though and didn't propose any temperature adjustments.
In Reading today, so, Gaby, if you fancy looking at a recently-sold-to-British-headed-consortium luxury sports car, please drop in.
Hopefully I'll get away mid-afternoon and get to the gym early.

ps I need/would like a new(ish) car. Preferably without antler damage, an engine bigger than 1.4, and a radio that works. Can you help?
Hi guys,
Just had a low calorie ham salad which was delicious, feeling quite smug. And an apple. I hate apples!
MWK - hope you will be feeling better. Lack of sleep is just chronic and I am such a bad sleeper, I despair. I used to sleep for Scotland, but those days are gone! Thank you, re: Mr S - he is very understanding. He knows I am kinda "out there" and he supports me when possible!
Moose & Hazel - Ben Elton: it's fair to say he's a nutter, but hilarious. We went to see him in Glasgow about 20 years ago (good grief, can't believe it's that long ago) and he was fabulous. I didn't know how much of what he had to say was in my pysche!
C xx
Hazel,
I have been trying to post this on CE, but for some unknown reason it gets bp'd.
To bring your tits out into the open you need to get your nuts and balls out first.
Seed is a good all round food for the tweeties, but this time of year they need a higher energy food. Peanuts and fat balls (what did you think I meant?) provide more energy than seed, and are easier to digest, therefore making them a more energy efficient food. I know you have had a few visitors, but give these a go for a week or 2 and you should soon have them flocking (groan) around the feeders.
As I am sat here typing this I can see blue, great and longtailed tits, finches of many a variety, reed buntings, dunnocks, sparrers and my faithful greater spotted woodpecker all enjoying their feast. I'm a lucky lucky girl.
MW, a!
Susan - I've only just managed to get onto your link...very impressive. Seriously though, you can't have enough to do!
Mwah! What can I say. Fat Balls have previously been disgust, sorry DISCUSSED at some length in the last couple of weeks, but I have not yet been able to purchase said items.
However, I am going to make a supreme effort tomorrow to get to a pet (other sources of fat balls are available but that's not for here) shop or other bird feed dispensary to buy those very things.
I have also been considering peanuts.
By the way. Does anyone have any knowledge of the European Robin trying to eat from a feeder? The perches are about 5mm diameter so not easy to grip, and he did look as though he was having a bit of a time of it. By the time I'd got to my camera he'd gorn orf, but I have never seen a robin at a feeder before - only on the floor or a birdie tablette.
I thank you
Yrs.

Afternoon all!
First time this week I've been here during working hours; this is because the man I was due to see at 1pm in Essex cancelled at 12.15. had I known he was going to do that, I wouldn't have schlepped all the way down there for ONE meeting at stupid o'clock this morning - hmmmph.
However, today is a good day for two reasons;
1. This is Hump Day in more ways than one - half way through the working week, but also halfway through the forced separation that Flutterby Man and I have had to endure. On the sippery slope now to a wonderful reunion (that's been planned since he left!!) and I am excited already!!!
2. My boss confirmed my release date from my current role today as..... March 30th!!!! Hooray!!! I then have a weeks holiday, before staring my new job on Tuesday 9th April - fully loved up of course!
I too have been 'good' today - toast and marmite for brekkie, banana mid morning and low fat chicken salad sarnie for lunch. Thats where it ends I'm afraid. I will be opening a bottle of wine this evening, in the hope that the persistent headache is actually a symptom of alcohol withdrawal....
Moose and Gaby - hope the kiddies feel better soon - xx for them.
Right, off to do some housework (such a glam lifestyle) and the shopping, will drop in later after some vino.
BIG smackers to you all,
xx.
P.S. Jo - how's the bump???
P.P.S. Susan S - I don't think you have too much to worry about!!!
Me again.
Robins just don't seem to get on well with hanging feeders, either with perches or just wire. They will give it a go, but I think its the motion puts them off.
However, they are the easiest of wild bird to tame to a certain extent, as in getting them to take food from your hand. It takes a blooming long time, and several sack loads of mealworms but is well worth the effort when you get that feeling of being at one with nature.
They will feed most happily from a table, window sill or any flat stable surface. Again, it relates to food energy efficiency. That is, and I'll try to keep this short, is the energy they gain from eating a piece of food worth the energy spent in obtaining it? For the robin, trying to maintain his balance on a feeder, which will often be accompanied by much fluttering of wings, would mean that he uses more calories than he gains from the seed that he eats. They are happier to hop and stroll around under the feeders and pick up what has been dropped by the other birds, and also get insects at the same time, which is their preferred dinner. Less energy spent and more energy gained. Hmm, didn't keep it as short as I wanted.
Anyway, hope that answers your query,
MW, a! (the walking, talking and typing animal encyclopaedia
Hello all
Am back for good, but manically busy at work, so please excuse the impromptu and irregular comments over the next couple of weeks.
Moose - Boy, have you got your finger on the pulse of your bloggers - you are Mr M Moostivator!
I am ashamed to say that I haven eaten 2 bags of crisps, half a quiche and a packet of kit kat nuggets today...before reading your blog from yesterday and Susans today....OMG I feel like a tub of lard!
I hope it's not to late to join in?
I sped read previous, so will have to go back for full info and I will make my pledge before the weekend, OK?
Sorry to hear of sick little ones- hope better soon.
I am terrible and insist on bed when child is sick. no lolling about on sofa..playing or reading in bed is Ok..being sick shouldn't be fun! Mr C is of the opposite opinion- heated discussion ensue and I end up feeling wicked & guilty!
Ok, off to make tea - Lasange ( not that slimming, but I will have a small portion and plenty of salad - will have to get with the programme - NA (?) website - on friday
Lots of love
Caroline
P.s Mr C obviously knows what I do here, but kindly he has agreed to allow this to be "my thing"
He is also sad that SOAMC is on the day we go on hols, cos he knows i would have loved to go!
Once again I am grateful to the lovely Mariella.
However, I do feel a certain fondness for the lovely Pheasant, and am a little concerned with the company he seems to be keeping lately.
Pheasant has started small clique with Mr and Mrs Magpie. They are all currently eating seed. Am hoping Pheasant has some more pleasant pheasant company soon. He is soooooo beautiful, it would be a real shame if not...
I s'pose there is a likelihood he could bat for ITV though...so may be hoping for another cock...for want of a better expression...d'you get 'gay' birds? S'pose you can.
Having said that. I'm absolutely delighted that he has made friends with someone, and there has to be safety in numbers really doesn't there.
I have to go now.
Once again, it has been a wonderful day with you all.

I don't get to see birds out of my window due to the (previously described) building site. However, for a short while this afternoon I have had the dubious pleasure of observing two blokes in togas, one black, one blue (togas not blokes, although it was chilly) sitting at a picnic table on a terrace on the other side of the barren wasteland. Don't ask me why ... they were probably students and therefore we will never know why they were wearing togas. They've gone now. Hopefully to put on some trousers and a vest.
Have a lovely day tomorrow Hazel, Happy birthday to your step Dad.
Take care
Love Mary xx
good evening lovely people.
Thank you for the good wishes.
Moose - hoping your Mooselet #1 is on the road to recovery. I think mine is well enough for school tomorrow. Thing is , I have this chap coming to hang my doors (not a euphemism) and I don't want my daughter to be on her own with him in the house - she is old enough to be on her own but I am worried about her being in the house with him..... So, if she is not well I will have to be at home (penultimate day at work will have to be missed - that WILL go down well at work....but she comes first). I must point out that I am not necessarily an untrusting kinda gal but I don't know this 'doorhanger' from adam.
Sorry - I bored even myself then.
I am at present watching Dragon's Den - I have an idea for a business - I think it's quite good!! - need to sell some first though before I stand before those guys!!
I managed to negotiate with my boss (not easy - 'don't kid a kidder') to leave work early tomorrow so that I can have my hair highlighted in preparation for my blind date on sunday. Boss said yes....yayyyyyy.
Blind date has cancelled!!!! - ironic!!
In true Bridget Jones style, I am still having my hair done and leaving work early etc etc !! lol!!
Matt - looking out for the car. Am hoping to get tickets to see Fulham in a few weeks. Oh, yes, and the sauna thing - we won't tell anyone what CE said - go on....share : )
my lovelies - I am missing blogging - my next job needs to facilitate access to 'personal' websites during the working day : )

I hadn't posted on CE for a few days before last weekend - and then I posted a complimentary one - I know I go over-the-top sometimes, that's just me being me. Some prick (sorry) criticised - so that's me done on CE now. It was really lovely while it lasted.
