Mis-selling or over-enthusiastic buying?

I went to the garden centre today and found a great deal on some gloves - £3.99 for three different pairs of gardening/working gloves. They were advertised as "All the gloves you'll ever need".

I bought 2 packs.

How does that work?

I'm so glad to see you were all busy and (mostly) present over the last 3 weeks. We generally had a good time - drove thousands of miles and saw lots of great sights. We're currently trying to get the mooselets back into a regular sleeping pattern, which this time is proving more tricky than normal and we don't quite know why.

In the land of the world obese champions, I managed to lose a bit of weight. That was mainly achieved by only ever having 2 meals a day and avoiding starters and desserts, but also by choosing hotels with pools where I could have swimming races with the mooselets. It is so fantastic to race with them, although the handicap system is complicated - at the moment we are roughly level when I do 4 lengths to mooselet #1's 2 lengths and mooselet #2's 1 length (floaty jacket assisted). Hiking in 100 degree temperatures probably sweated a few pounds off too! Zion National Park remains one of my favourite places in the world. Despite the disapproving looks of the park ranger, we all hiked up the Narrows - a hike that basically goes through a river in a very narrow canyon. At times, mooselet #2 was up to his chest and the two of us fell in at one point - entirely my fault but I pulled him in with me as I was holding his hand pretty tightly the whole time! We also went to Disneyland for a day which was nowhere near as bad as my expectations of it. I even agreed to go back sometime.

And to show just how inaccurate my predictions are:
- We didn't make it to 29 Palms.
- We didn't go to Joshua Tree NP although I did see Joshua trees
- We by-passed Big Sur due to fog and time constraints having spent an extra day in San Francisco
- We didn't go to Yosemite to see El Kapitan

I hope that blasting various 70's hits (the 70's station was the only one we could pick up most of the time) at the Grand Canyon in a thunderstorm, across the vast nothingness that is Nevada, and in the Mission district of San Francisco will suffice as suitable memorial instead...

I started back at the gym yesterday with a decent training session and I've decided that I need an event to do in October to train towards. Triathlon or 10k I think. I did the Cancer Research 10k last October so I might repeat that, even though triathlon is my preference. I will be doing the internet search for the appropriate event as soon as I've posted this...

Yo Moose! Hoorah! Moose Family Robinson all present and correct! We've bin trying to tick it over for you, so it should start after a couple of turns...

Anyhoo...it sounds as though you all had the bestest time EVER! If I may put forward a slice of personal philosophy..? The fact that two of you fell in and that Mooselet #2 was up to his chest at one point...may be why you are having problems trying to get them to sleep properly...of course, I expect to be WAY off the mark...just a thought...

...and the gloves...this means that you can use them not only for the 'garden' and 'working' but for washing up, cleaning the bathroom, penguin disguised as chicken etc AND anything else your little antlers desire...I think I may have a book you can borrow...(have missed the Naughty Corner the last couple of days)...

As for 70's music. Any time, any place, anywhere...

Welcome home, Moose. It sounds like a fab time was had by all and that is what holidays are all about!

Re: sleeping patterns - difficult one, perseverence and loads of patience required and it will all come right in the end. I can tell you this from experience!!!

Good luck with choosing your event, I will sponsor you for a few pennies. Unfortunately I have a jiggered achilles so apart from swimming I am unable to partake in any sports! - Not even meant to walk up and down stairs - a bit difficult when you work on the second floor of a building with no lift!

It's my mum's birthday today - 69 she is - and I love her to bits. I shall be ringing her later on to sing heartily my birthday wishes to her, along with the 3 men in my life!

Hazel - glad everything is OK, we were beginning to worry about you.

Jollygit - so sorry things have all gone awry for you. Hope the happy times are soon back on track.

Have a good day everyone!

A x

PS anyone else looking forward to a crisp, fresh winter!? I heard on GMTV this morning that they are expecting it to be much drier than last year, and colder too. I cant wait to get my hat and scarf on (i may even indulge in clothes and a coat!) and embrace our seasons. I do love England for that.

PPS sorry to talk about winter already, but summer has been such a wash out - i just had a momentary flurry of excitement about winter and then .... ch..... chr.... christ..... Ok - i wont say it. But where are my sprouts?

{{{{{MOOSEY WELCOME HOME!!!}}}}}

It's been a long time and sounds like you all had a blast! It always takes me a few days before I get a regular aleeping pattern back when I fly back over the pond so it's not just the Mooslets.

Multifunctional gloves what fun!

And is anyone else totally "P'd" off with Princess Diana's death? I wish they'd all just let her rest in peace! Yes I know she did charity work but so does Princess Anne and she gets bugger all praise compared with D but I suppose that's because she doesn't have a celebrity freindly gorgeous face!!!! RANT RANT!

Ok I'm done.

And..... breathe!

...and also ps, yes lyndyloo...so there'll be a 20 year, 25 years, etc etc
Here's a dull Princess Diana fact for you...it is exactly 10 years ago today since my husband and I bought a new kitchen for the flat we were about to sell. We bought the next one up from the cheapest, and the bloke in the shop insisted on talking to my husband and not me which got right on my pip as I had done all the design and had the measurements in my hand then they sent the wrong corner cupboard and got to his mum's for Sunday lunch, to find out that Diana had died. This would be around 2pm and we had no idea up til then. Spent the rest of the day in near total silence then went home. 31st Aug is also my big bro's birthday. He would've been 33 (I think)...

Rest in Peace

Sorry, it is also my brother's birthday now. He is (at last check anyway) alive and well, if not kicking, and 43 today I suppose. I have sent a card with a picture of a football on it.

Re - Diana - the press didn't leave her alone in life and they certainly won't do now she has been gone for 10 years. Whatever went on and the circumstances surrounding how she died we will probably never know the real truth. My lovely mum who I mentioned earlier was very upset 10 years ago today and she will also feel sad today as she is a staunch Diana supporter. Hazel you are right, we will hear about Diana every year particularly on the anniversary of her death for our lifetime I reckon. I would like to think she will be very proud of her sons though as she looks down on them today.

Lyndyloo - You are right regarding Princess Anne. She is nowhere near as commercial as Diana was, and her eldest child will not be our future monarch either. Yet she is as hard working, if not more hard working than Diana. This is the sad fact of today's 'celebrity hungry' public.

Happy Birthday to Hazel's brother, my mum and anyone else celebrating today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMANDA'S MUM, 69 ooooer (NC1 I'm on my way!)- unfortunately this baby seems to be still firmly tucked away and will not be celebrating it's birthday anytime soon.

Also Happy B'day to Hazel's Bro - who I thought was away from this mortal world unitl the PS rectified it!

10 years ago I was drunk, slightly stoned and watched the telly live through the night at some random blokey from schools house. Then I had to get a taxi home and I proceeded to sleep for a good few hours. One of the wierdest nights of my life probably....

Any hoo, am home, washed, dressed AND have even been out into the world to do a bit of shopping (all by 10:45). Impressive huh?

Sophie puppy is very confused as to why mummy is staying home so much and would very much like to know why she doesn't go to play with her sister every day any more?

WELCOME HOME MOOSE (family Robinson)

Hazel, glad your pooter (when I type that I keep thinking Rooster) is feeling better today

Must get on with the washing and cleaning - Sometimes I'd rather be at work!

:o) Jo

And on the subject of what we were doing 10 years ago. I had a pub at the time called the Hat & Beaver and as I recall, I had 3 regulars still in watching Cheers at some ungodly hour of the morning when we were rudely interrupted with the news of a car crash in Paris. I think we might have had another round of drinks on me as a mark of respect before I turfed them out on the street and went to bed.

Bon Nuit

Glad you're all back safe and well Moose. Sounds like a great time had by all.

Gloves - all the gloves you'll ever need for what? I bet you couldn't use them for a surgical operation.

10 years ago I was getting stuff ready to go on holiday and managed to miss most of the coverage by decamping to a mountain in Austria for two weeks. Came back after the funeral and wondered what all the fuss was about.

Which reminds me, only a week to go until my holidays. Yippee!

MESSAGE FROM THE PEDANTRY: Jo.

We would be interested to know whether you were out, unwashed and undressed? "Any hoo, am home, washed, dressed AND have even been out into the world to do a bit of shopping (all by 10:45). Impressive huh?"

We await the coverage on the BBC News Website.

Moose - you're back! The hols read as though they were fab - good for you and the Moose family!

Guys, it's really, really late, mty project went 'live' today and I got home from work an hour ago and I'm now celebrating an EXCELLENT first night with a glass of bubbly. Shame there isn't a significant other here to celebrate with me, oh and I haven't any strawberries either. Always seem to enjoy fizz more when I have strawberries...

Anna - I had an invite for New Years Eve last weekend...

I'm working tomorrow, then at netball, then having quiet night in with Special Friend. I think I will need it!

You all seem on good form. I hope everyone's OK.

Jo - glad to read you're enjoying being a lady of leisure.

I do hope to be back slightly more regularly from next week, so that I can bore you all with more from my life!

Hugs and kisses,

S xx.

P.S. The Police got the little shits that broke into my house!!!
