First week report

And so the first week is over.
The highlights and lowlights...
Day 1 - "What have I done? How can I get out of this NOW?"
Day 2 - "Maybe I'm going to like this after all..."
Day 3 - "What do you mean the chairman thinks I'm a superstar?"
Day 4 - "Is it time to go home already? I was having so much fun..."

The other major upside was my first proper Weizenbier for a long time. The major downside was having to wait until Thursday evening for my first proper Weizenbier for a long time (although I did destroy a couple of pils and a few glasses of wine on the other nights...)

Belated HB to DD. And have a good week, everyone!

That will teach me refresh the page! :-(

Welcome back moose sound like the job it is taking shape with more positives than negatives. The three months will fly past and then what?

This post is on the end of the last bolg ….

Good evening Bloggers

Chrissie I do hope all of your bruises have healed, from your description I would like to award you a 5.9 for artistic content on your fall! ;-)

I know I have been absent far too often recently but I have been distracted by work and health. The work I can do little about and even now this time on a Sunday night I am still writing staff reports to get them done and dusted.

I am taking the family to Florida on Tuesday for two weeks. The highlight for me is a Harley Davidson I have hired and my planned trip to Daytona Beach, a life long ambition (another thing I want to do before I am 50 crossed off my list) will be achieved.

On the health side the positive side is that I have now lost 9 stone in weight! Yes NINE stone!! So I am feeling good I have been swimming tonight and will be in the gym tomorrow (maybe I will see Lyndyloo there?) I have trained really hard over the last few months. For those that would like to see what I loo like I can be found on Facebook with a photo of me taken at Christmas here http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=515204934

Now for the down side is last Monday I had a cancer check up and they have found another problem and have already been given an operation date of 11 March the delay is due to me not wanting to cancel my holiday, what difference can a couple of week make! So the long wait continues again, it is the not knowing that hurts more than the stitches I will get. I do not wish to burden you more to explain my absence over the next couple of weeks.

Keep this place safe for me to return to as I will be back! :-)))

Keep smiling everyone.

Keith the NotSoBigUn
Xx

P.S Last night my wife and I were sitting in the study and I said to her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all, if that ever happens, just pull the plug."
So she got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine. She's such a bitch.

Keith, am gutted for your latest news and thinking of you. Have a fabulous holiday, love every minute of the Harley trip and hurry back for your operation to get better. Am sending lots of thoughts, love and positive vibes. xxxxxxxxxxx Stay positive. xxxxx

I have only just managed to read the blog - I have been computer-less since last Thursday.

Keith - really concerned to hear your news. I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday - I think you were right not to postpone it.

What an achievement regarding your weight, you must be so proud of yourself!

Enjoy every moment of Daytona Beach, you can just pretend you are Ewan McGregor in Long Way Down! (don't know if he was riding a Harley Davidson).

Moose, good to hear from you - it's great that you are settling in so quickly.

Everyone else - hope you are o.k.

Well done Moose on a fab first week, good luck for the 2nd week!

notsobigun - too late as you are winging your way to US now - but have a fantastic holiday. So very sorry to hear the uncertain news about the cancer but will be sending lots of PV's to you. Take care and I have no doubts at all that we will keep this place safe for your return.

Chrissie - look after yourself!

I am still not back at work (end of the month hopefully) but am gradually returning to full health. I can drive now which is a relief (short distances only at the moment)and can walk a bit further and faster every day! Have a problem with my shoulder (elbow heals then shoulder dies!) so am trying to excercise it as much as possible to aid recovery. It has been a long haul but I am definitely getting there now!

So a big hi to everyone - have noticed some faces missing so just hope everyone is OK. Hope to be back regularly soon.

Afternoon all,
Thanks for the belated HB Moose.

Svelte Not so! Have a great break and I hope the docs are erring on the side of caution! Good Luck.

I shall be enjoying a pint of Castle in the land of it's manufacture on Friday. You will all be in my thoughts, even if I'm not at the end of a keyboard! A week of safari in Kruger NP awaits in celebration of being old(er)!

Here's to not being trampled by an elephant, mauled by a tiger, or becoming the filling in a crocodile sleeping bag!

DD out

PS I love the rains ......

Hello everyone. By now notsobigun will be in the good ole US of A so let's hope he's enjoying himself. As for Moose.. me thinks all will be well. DD off on holibobs too.. have a fab time! To all of you who are under the weather (Chrissie Amanda)please have lots of PV's from me and Booboo (who is currently sitting sunning herself in the window).

I'll be off to the gym tomorrow night (anyone there should be single dontcha think?) I'll need to work off some of the excesses of last night's celebration of another one of the gangs 40th birthdays.

So for now I'm off....

Lyndyloo - thank you! I was just sitting here feeling really quite sorry for myself because my leg is STILL so sore and bruised. Opened up Moose's blog and saw your message. Every little helps!!

And isn't it nice to hear from Amanda?

I will be burning the midnight oil tonight. We have our accountant arriving at 11am tomorrow and needless to say I am swamped with receipts, invoices, statements, etc. My own fault for being sooo disorganised!

Hope everyone is o.k.

P.S. In particular, thinking of Jo ...... hope the gorgeous George is learning the art of sleeping when he is supposed to!

Also - Hazel: we're missing you!

jollygit said...

Just to let you know, Hazel is having problems with her pooter yet again, and is therefore incommunicado (isn't that somewhere near Worthing?).

Anyhoo, she sends her love to all and hopes to be back with us soon.

G;ad I dropped by to get some V day xxx! Nothing here - not even from gawjus george! Mr Jo told me that the only decent card was £4 and he'd rather give me the cash to buy some chocolate....he knows me sooo well.

Chrissie, hope your leg is feeling better soon.
Amanda, not sure what happened but ouch, it sounds painful!

Moose - saw you'd been graffitiing somewhere near me - random MOOSE written on a road sign! I did have a giggle...

Keith - hope you are enjoying your break even with your not great news...finger crossed and laying naked on a wooden table for you!

News from these here parts is good - George is *still* sleeping through but is still also really colicky early evening and is struggling with reflux which means I am permanantly covered in baby sick but we're seeing a paed doctor tomorrow so hopefully we'll get some good medicine!

Oh - and he has found his giggle, but only when w say the ords poo, or bogies....boys eh?

Jo - lovely to hear from you - and thank you for your good wishes towards my injury!

I tried to see the pictures - for some reason I can never get into these links! However, I'm sure George certainly is gorgeous! You will know this, I'm sure, but just thought I would mention that Infacol is excellent for colic. I well remember MsS screaming with the pain of colic, resulting in MrS heading off to find an all-night chemist to get Infacol! It really did work like magic.

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day. I had a fairly traumatic morning with the accountant, but everything was o.k. MrS met me straight from work and we went for a pizza and bottle of red. Very nice, but no card, no flowers .... it would have been nice to get a wee surprise!

Be back later - TGIF, eh?!

C xx

P.S. Is anyone watching Ashes to Ashes? I'm not getting it - I think it's ruddy awful! (though Philip Glenister is definitely my next husband!)

Anonymous said...

Mornin' all. Apologies for long periods of absence this last week - my boss keeps giving me work to do. Outrageous!

Jo - nice to see you and the piccies of little George. Isn't he growing fast!

Hi Chrissie - TGIF indeed. Couldn't agree more. And I don't get Ashes to Ashes either - what's the point? I really liked Life on Mars but this seems to be just a step too far. Although, as you say, it is a reason to watch Philip Glenister ....

jollygit said...

Jo - lovely to see you again, and George is indeed, gorgeous!! Ooh, colic - not nice - hope you all recover from it and its effects very soon xx

I never watched Life on Mars, so haven't checked out Ashes to Ashes either, but Philip Glenister can take down my particulars any time (sorry) .....

Chrissie - I hope the bruising has healed x

I was surprised on Valentine's Day with a card and roses from 'im indoors, and he also cooked me a lovely meal of fillet steak with all the trimmings, plus a chocolatey moussey kind of dessert, which was all washed down with a very nice Pinot Noir - it were reet smashing.

Have a lovely weekend one and all - the sun's shining here at the moment so let's hope it lasts over the next few days.

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all o.k. - if a little quiet!

One of my oldest (by that I mean we have known each other a long time!) friends had her grown up son staying with her at the weekend (he lives "down south"). I went to see them on Friday and had a really lovely evening. This guy is 43 and has had MS for 20 years. We had a terrific evening exchanging stories and jokes and while he admitted that it really does get him down at times, he has lived with MS for so long, he accepts it and lives his life around it. Just an incredible guy. So, I am feeling slightly sheepish about being so sorry for myself and have decided to take this week by the horns and stay positive!

Thought I would share!

Chrissie- How great to hear an up comment so early in the week. I know that interacting with people who deal with illness day to day make me feel more fortunate. I'm sure that we all have days when we feel a bit sorry for ourselves (I know I do) but there can always be a positive spin that can be found if you look hard enough for it. I think I grew up with a bit of a Pollyanna mentality which I hope to carry with me the whole of my life. Here's to a great week for everyone and isn't it great to see the sun out!!

I agree - we should have a positive start to every week. I think the sunshine helps. Blue skies and a bright sunny day make everything seem better.

My kitchen is positively gleaming - a day off work, a pair of rubber gloves, some hot water and a bottle of Cillit Bang have made all the difference! Cleaned the oven, extractor hood, cupboards and floor. Boy, do I feel smug! Mr L will think he's in the wrong house tonight ...

Now I feel it's time to lie on the sofa with the remains of a box of chocs and a soppy DVD.

See y'all tomorrow.

lyndyloo said...

Analog - if you feel the need to clean again then please let me know and I'm sure that I can find you a kitchen/bathroom/lounge or similar to help :))

Anonymous said...

Analog - well done! Whenever I give my kitchen a really good clean (which I try to do fairly often) I just cannot stand it when I have to cook something again! Even making toast makes the place a mess again - drives me mad!

I have to be honest, I despise domesticity. The most thankless tasks on the planet must be cleaning and ironing: no-one notices they are being done ... until you don't do them!

Hey ho, back to positivity!

C xx

jollygit said...

Analog - well done on the burst of domesticity! I hate cleaning although you might recall I became ever so slightly obsessed with housework whilst out of work for a wee while last year ..... thankfully I've been gainfully employed as a temp ever since and the house is back to its original state!! Only kidding ... I do what I can, when I can, but still loathe doing it!

Chrissie - making toast can make much more of a mess than a 3-course meal - why is that?!

The sun is shining here today and I feel that spring is finally sprung. It was lighter than usual at 6.45am and although it was flippin' cold and there was frost on the car, it was bright and sunny. Went for a 6-mile walk yesterday and I just know that I'll be struggling with aches and pains in me legs tomorrow, but that's another day.

Is CLP back today? Hope so - it's not the same without him.

Happy Monday to you all and here's to a positive week.

Love Jollygit xx

Hi Lyndyloo: yes, it is far too quiet on here!

I would have LOVED to have been sitting on a bar stool last night! (wouldn't fancy the falling off mind you - hope your bum/thigh is recovering!)

My evening consisted of getting home at 6.15, pan-frying chicken and veg, cleaning the kitchen, and then cleaning our bedroom which looked like Beruit! The highlight of the entire night was a cup of tea while watching Masterchef!

Was it a nice bar, and was the fall worth it?!

Have a good day everyone.

Ooh, it is quiet, isn't it?!

Word from Hazel - she is still incommunicado when it comes to important sites such as this and CLP's blog, but she's asked me to send her love to all.

Thick, thick fog this morning darn sarf - even the birds are colliding!

Hope you're all safe where you are.

Lyndyloo - hope your bum/thigh get better soon. Gosh, it's a long time since I even sat ON a bar stool, let alone fell off one!!

Morning bloggers!

My buttock cheek is less dead this morning after a very hard session with the personal trainer at the gyn last night (somehow I don't think he had much sympathy) and am spending today at the Leicester office before heading down to London tomorrow for a visit to the sanctuary with one of my friends. Does anyone else think it's the coldest it's been for a while?

Lyndyloo - it's freezing today, definitely colder than it's been for a long while. Mind you, I still don't seem to have warmed up since getting back from NZ!

I went to The Sanctuary years ago and loved it, so I'm turning green with envy ..... have a wonderful time. Will you be swinging on that swing?!!!!

Now the question is... "Should I really be tucking into some maltesers on the basis that I earned them by going to the gym last night?"

Answers on a postcard...

Anonymous said...

Lyndyloo - Maltesers are fine if you eat them standing up. Like most foods, if you're standing up the calories don't count ... :)

Back at work today for a rest. All that domesticity for a couple of days wore me out!

It's still cold and foggy here, but on the sun is trying to break through. We might get a bit of blue sky before it gets dark!

lyndyloo said...

Many thanks analog! I am walking round the office expounding the virtues of standing up eating and feeling most sylphlike!!

Moose said...

Well I haven't fallen off any bar stools but I have been to 3 different gyms today already, and there might be a 4th in store for this evening. OK, the one downside is that I haven't done any training whatsoever, just wandered around feeling like a "suit"...

Helloo - if there is anyone out there to say hello to!!

I was reading on the BBC website this morning that Bruce Forsyth is 80. This lead me to remember his appearance on Have I Got News For You, which I seem to remember was brilliant. I then thought "I wonder if I could buy that on Amazon?" Result? Order has been confirmed, it should arrive on Wednesday! I must be any marketing manager's dream customer!

Happy Mondays!

I hope you all had a good weekend and are now fully refreshed and ready for another fun-filled week!

I'm counting down the days till I head off to the ski slopes with my friends on Saturday. I'm looking forward to the break from home (though I get the feeling it's going to be a bit of a mad 7 days away). We're off to stay in our lovely chalet in Arinsal and I've organised 2 minibuses for us to pick up at the airport so we'll have transport in and around resort when we get there. As the place is home from home for me I suppose I'll be the one that's doing the organising but that can be fun if you let it.

Does anyone else have anything exciting to report?
