4 seasons in one day...

Boo!

Just popped in to find so much going on...

First, congrats to Susan...I did have a whisper of your news from Lyndyloo...

Second, welcome to new joiners over here, Dancerjen and Gingembre. Great to have you here. You probably don't know me but I used to be a CLP blogger too until I couldn't be bothered any more. But that's a whole other story. You may think I can't be bothered here any more but I'm afraid it's just being busy and working in Germany at the moment...too much weekend time spent seeing my kids and washing/ironing ready to return on Monday and weekday time spent....WORKING!!! It's all a bit of a shock to the system.

Third, darn, missed the cake. Although my secretary had birthday cake in the office today, so I joined in belatedly.

My big news this week (so far...could get bigger tomorrow...) is that I have moved into a flat. No more hotel living! I don't know the connectivity status of the flat but I'm hoping to get back online a bit more regularly in the evenings.
The flat's quite small but it's much bigger than a hotel room so I'm not complaining. I'm so looking forward to not having to go out every night for tea, being able to do my washing here instead of lugging dirty washing back home every weekend, and most of all, leaving all my stuff somewhere permanent rather than transporting everything between the office and the hotel every Monday night and Friday morning.
I'm about a minute away from the Mainufer (bank of the river) which has cycle paths and running track for miles in both directions. I have a neighbour from the company who is a fitness freak who I can train with...all I need now is a hip that works without hurting and I'm away! Oh, and I have to buy a bike too. Mrs Moose and the Mooselets can come over for a weekend now too.

Have had snow and bright sunshine today...

Hiya Moose! Good to see you.
You are obviously settling in - that's just great. You will love having your own flat - hotels are o.k. for a short period of time, but in the end we always want our freedom! How lovely Mrs Moose and the Mooselets can come to visit.

As you can see, it has been "all go" here! But we are missing you!

Very nice to have all my stuff unpacked. Thought I was going to have trouble sleeping due to the combination of a street light directly outside my bedroom window and very thin curtains...but I slept like a baby log! I even woke up before my alarm...worth a red ring on the calendar for its rarity is that. And all that despite the particularly nasty colours of the sheet and duvet cover that were available to me...actually the sheet is nasty and the duvet would be acceptable if it didn't clash so badly with the sheet!
I'm particularly enjoying the thought of not having to pack everything up tomorrow.
I even switched the laptop on last night, after unpacking and while Schalke 04 were beating Porto on penalties, to do a few edits on the synopsis and the agent's letter. I feel that both pieces of work are nearing the "happy zone". It was great to get back to it after a long gap. And the fact that the previous tenant had left some beer cooling nicely on the balcony for me just smoothed things along quite nicely.

The CEO is visiting today. I know a secret about one of the reasons he's coming but I just can't tell...
I also have a meeting with him this afternoon. Don't know yet if the 2 events are linked in any way. And I'm not sure whether I want them to be.
Ah all the intrigue and secrecy!
I shall reveal all just as soon as I can...

The intrigue and excitement is nearly more than i can bare/bear... (?) cope with moose! It does sound like its all very interesting over there though!

I am wishing i could sleep like a baby log, if only for the mancub going through his waking up in the middle of the night again phase. Maybe when he has moved out i will get a good nights sleep. Only approx 16 years to go! ZZzzzzzzzz

Right, must finish my peppermint tea and get ready for a day in the sunny city of Nottingham. Have a nice day all!

Moose - great to hear from you and glad you had such a great night's sleep despite the clash of bedding!!

Hope you enjoy living in the flat .... far more comfortable all round I'd say.

Good luck with your meeting with the CEO too - can't wait to hear what it was all about!

Happy thirsty Thursday to one and all - have a good day.

That sounds just right Moose! Nice to meet you by the way, it's been right nice finding this lovely little enclave. Beer on the balcony? Oh how perfect! Ahhh I miss my balcony.... warm summer nights with a beer watching the sun on the lake... Still, I've got the Downs to look at these days so it's not all bad.

Jollygit et al we've got a whistling kettle now! The husband got fed up of the electric one taking up space on the worktop (space is at a bit of a premium in our cottage) so he's made me get used to a whistler. It's all very well for him only being here in the evenings but I work up in the attic and have to try not to break a leg running down two flights of steep stairs to turn the gas off when it starts screaming!

Right, I've been interwebbing for nearly an hour and a half so I'd better make an effort and do some housework otherwise there'll be no clean clothes for the husband's trip to canada next week and no food for lunch. Now that would be a disaster. Carrot and coriander soup - mmmm!

The world seems a better place today :) I too have a secret but I can't tell you either :( I'm sure it'll all come out eventually!

Anna - I do sympathise about your lack of sleep. It does get better, really it does, but it is so difficult when you can't get a full night's sleep. I will never forget the misery and exhaustion I felt when MsS was little!

Speaking of MsS (as I like to do, you will have noticed!) no word from the lady who interviewed her the other day. She promised she would call by 5pm yesterday - no word. Of course, it could be she genuinely couldn't call, but as you can imagine, I am spitting feathers! If she doesn't call by Friday, I will definitely report her to her superiors. I just think it is awful not to contact someone after an interview, especially a (nearly) 17 year old - we all know how vulnerable teenagers are.

Thanks for listening!!

Oh my goodness, I don't think I can keep this to myself any longer. I am rubbish at keeping my own secrets! Secrets entrusted to me will go to the grave with me but my own secrets.... But it's not just that, this morning has been one of those mornings when EVERYTHING happens all in one day and now I feel like I am just going to burst if I don't share it with someone!

First thing first - I did a pregnancy test this morning and IT WAS POSITIVE!!! I never thought I'd see this day - I've been married just over 7 years now and although we said we'd wait, I never thought the day would come!

THEN I only went and had a hypo. I'm diabetic and have been put on insulin therapy for pregnancy prep and now for the duration, and this morning the injection drew blood (sorry for the needle-phobes, I know how you will be feeling at that, I feel it myself unfortunately!) so me and the husband were a little concerned that this would lead to a hypo. Which it did. Anyway I've just about recovered from that, with sugar and tea and bread and jam.

THEN!!!!
I got a call from the lovely greengrocers saying can I do Fridays, and can I start tomorrow!!!!!!

I don't know how many more surprises I can take in one day!

Aaaaaaannnnnnd breeeeeaathe......

Good to see you Moose - bet you're pleased to be out of a hotel. Hotel life sounds great (and is for a week or two) but eventually its sooo much better to be able to veg out in your own space surrounded by your own stuff.

Dancerjen - what great news all round (except the hypo of course, and you appear to have fixed that). My first job was in a greengrocers. I did 4 years of Saturdays then 6 months full-time when I left school before starring a course. I loved it. Bit chilly in the winter though - it was one of those shops with no windows, just shutters that went up at 8 am and came down at 5 pm so you were exposed to whatever the elements threw at you ...

Susan and Dancerjen - look after yourselves and those babies, OK?!

Dancerjen: what wonderful news! Congratulations to you and MrD!
What a day you are having (glad you are o.k. after the hypo), and it looks like your new career in spuds and greens starts tomorrow! Terrific stuff.

Dancerjen, wonderful news, congratulations on the pregnancy and job xx Glad you recovered okay from the hypo, take care xx

Chrissie - I think it is so rude of people not to call when they say they would, there is no excuse for it, it's just down right rude!!

Moose - I'm really pleased all is going well for you. Much better having a flat, it's more homely than a hotel room and even better for Mrs Moose and the Mooselet's.

Chrissie/Jollygit - just going back to yesterday talking about kettle's. We always had a stainless steel teapot at home which was always put on the cooker to brew for a few minutes before pouring otherwise my Dad would go mad haha. When my brother and I were young and visiting one of our aunt's we thought we were really clever offering to make the tea until we put my aunt's lovely china teapot on the cooker ring.....not a good idea!!!

Happy thirsty Thursday all xx
