Back to Boston

I am determined to actually get on and do some writing today. Too much planning can be a bad thing. I've done enough now and it's time to get back inside the lives of my characters. More Bryan and Katie today I think. Well, there's nothing else to do...

...Check out the OAMC blog for new and reminder details for March/early April dates...

...and prepare for the inaugural Moose McCrumble Enterprises Ltd Board Meeting tonight.

ummmmmm...you can't see the boats and the building behind the second one?

...or is the top one the Moose, and the bottom one a Mooselet?

Oh I don't know. I hate starting the day with a quiz. (sulk)

Morning Bloggers!

Once again thank you to you all! Is it wrong to have cadburys caramel mini eggs for breakfast? I don't think so but other views would be accepted gratefully.

Has anyone ever been to Islay? My frinds are getting married there in August and I'm very excited about going there. I've booked into a B&B with some friends and we'll be there for 3 days.

Bit of bad form to be first on your own blog, but I just wanted to share this...
Last year, I headed up a project which, among other things, had to analyse structure charts across the office (over 10,000 people). To keep us amused during the drudge of this exercise, we ran two "Top 10" lists - one for funny names and one for people who share their names with famous people. On the second list was someone called Chris Evans. I never knew who he was...until just now. I went to fetch a coffee and he was standing there right next to me, his ID badge proudly displayed round his neck to let me know it was him.

Must be a slow day...

Keith - welcome back - glad you had a good day off.

Hazel - can you nip round to my house too...the windows could do with a clean.

Pants! Typed a long comment and got a server problem comment! Since when did you start employing Blog Police, Moose! Were we really that out of hand at the picninc yesterday?! Was it Hazel blabbing to next door about the bra up the tree!?!

Anyways ... as I was saying ...

Good morning Moose!

I hope you aheive all you plan to today - there is nothing worse than planning to get things done then getting to the end of the day and finding you 've achieved so little! Happens to me every day!

Today I MUST:

Clean kitchen (like Forth Road Bridge - start one side, get to end, start all over again!)
Change beds and tidy room
Clean out Guines pigs
Take Charis to Little Fishes
Shop
Do the neeps, tatties and carrots to go with tonight's haggis
Sort out laundry

Now ... I had something to do first ... what was it? Oh, that's right, wash and get dressed!!

Hope the character work is going well - go with your gut feelings about them and don't over analyse!

Have a great day Moose. I'm putting the kettle on - who's turn was it to bring the cakes?

Huggles,

Susan <><

Bad form avoided then...good.

Lyndyloo - on Gillian McKeith the other day was a woman who had allegedly eaten chocolate cake for lunch every day for 11 years...so I don't think one day on mini-eggs is going to matter too much.

Anonymous said...

Gaby, darling ... it's not to late for a glass of red, but don't you think it's a wee bitty too early!?! How's your van man!?

Keith - we missed you! Thanks so much for your lovely comment - it really was a privelage to get everyone contributing to the remembrance of loved ones lost. Yah big softy you! :) How are things?

Hazel - hrumph! Now I'll need to go back to yesterday to see what you've said! I didn't even attempt the quiz - I'd have failed miserably! Is there a prize, Moose?

Lyndyloo - Islay is not far from my home town! It is a beautiful island - great distilleries! Don't suppose you're spending a couple of days in Oban too? We could have met for a real glass or two! How are you getting up? Thanks for your comment in Xangaland - I'm so glad I could do such a small thing for you honey!

Moose, honey .... hate to break it to you, but you're not first! But the last will be first and all that! That's a big office! There are an awful lot of Chris Evanses aboot!

Tea, coffee anyone?

Milk, sugar?

Hazel love - I was absolutely knackered last night too! Charis didn't go down until after midnight! And now she's nagging me for her paints - anyone want to come do that while I make the tea and coffee? Thanks, btw!

Looking forward to hearing about your Turdus merula, Parus caeruleus, Pyrrhula pyrrhula, Fringilla coelebs, Prunella modularis and Erithacus rubecula!

Don't suppose you'd help a tired Mama out and do my windows too? No? Oh well, I'll go phone Foys then!

I used to make my own lard and seed mixes - stinks the kitchen out, but the birds loved it and it was cheaper than the balls!

What colour top you got on today?!

Huggles, Susan <><

Anonymous said...

Today I am mostly wearing a top in the colours of the Stenella coeruleoalba with underpinnings fashioned from the pattern of the Panthera pardus.

I'll have a quadruple double fat balls extra tall poccachino with added lard please. Extra neeps.

Many thanks.

I would willingly clean your winders for yer all, but I have just realised how much my arm is actually aching now, AND I had to jump to reach the high bits. It's bad enough trying to reach the top of Moose's Antlers doncha know!

I require a small step ladder, a squeegee, a bowl (or bucket) of hot soapy water and a bag of mini-eggs.

I charge £9.50 per hour, and for that you get your windows cleaned too.

Susan S - what a beautiful thing you did for us all. The pomes and pics were fabulous - you are wonderful xxxx

To everyone who sent in pics, you're just the best. Not ashamed to say that I shed a tear or three hundred.

Isn't it a beautiful day today? God is most certainly good when you see the flars and hear the boidies singing their wotsits off.

Darling, you are the sound of a Strix aluco!!

So that will be blue-white with a leopard pattern? And you manage to find time to work in the midst of this maddness?!

Here's your drink. I'll get the ladder (you'll need the big one - we are in the top flat!). Have sent the child to the shop to get the mini-eggs!

Huggles!

OH NO!!!!! Charis's brat of a cat has just landed in her painting and taken off across the carpet ... which is the colour of crepito!!!! Anyone any tips on getting acrylic paint off?!

Anonymous said...

Och wheesht! You'd have done the same, Jollygit!

Glad it is a beautiful day with you! I'm still waiting on birdies to come and visit our garden! It's obviously been concreted for so long that they have given up even trying to find food here!

Ok - it really looks like I have no life at all cos I'm posting so much! Sorry for hogging, guys! Going to get the dishes done and the clean up the paint pawprints! Baby wipes are amazing!

Gaby - who did you elbow out of the way and trample on to get 1st next door!?

PS If anyone still wants to send a photo or a few words, I'll happily put them on the site.

Anonymous said...

Susan S - the pictures are great and love the poems. Sorry I failed in getting a picture of my cerise blouse but I did try.
Today, in case anyone's interested, my top is baby pink.

Moose - do you need minutes taking at the Moose McCrumble Enterprises Ltd Board meeting? I'm a dab hand with shorthand and typing! Just a thought, but if you had a Board Assembly instead of meeting you could be MMELBA. An altogether different dessert than a Moose McCrumble with custard.

Sun is shining and the sky is blue but can still only see a building site from the window (perhaps if it was cleaned I might see more? Hazel ..???)

Really ought to get some work done today, but ....

Good Morning to you all!

Moose, I haven't a clue what the "spot the difference" may be! Please tell us!

Susan S, I tried to post a message on your page this morning. I typed up a wee note, hit publish (or whatever) and then a page came up asking me to open an account. Sorry, that's where it all became complicated! So, I have no idea if you will get my message!

The gist of it is: your tribute yesterday was just utterly beautiful. The photographs are all wonderful and the one of Charis and Amy is just gorgeous, I really did cry. Well done!

Hope everyone else here is o.k.

P.S. FIVE RULES FOR MEN TO FOLLOW FOR A HAPPY LIFE

1. It's important to have a woman who helps at home, who cooks from time to time, cleans up and has a job.
2. It's important to have a woman who can make you laugh.
3. It's important to have a woman who you can trust and who doesn't lie to you
4. It's important to have a woman who is good in bed and who likes to be with you
5. It's very, very important that these four women don't know each other

I don't think it's my fault you've all gone latin - I'm just trying out Italian verbs (or verbi italiani as us studenti refer to them). Blame the person who left a copy of the Observer book of Birds on the windowsill.

I saw that Troglodytes v Neanderthal rugby match - it was vicious.

Lyndyloo - did you have the caramel creme eggs fried, boiled or scrambled? Do they go with bacon?

Durrrr, late again this morning as still having work PC problems. Anyhow, looked at photos and could see foot size differences so figured out it was a different Mooselet in each photo - went to respond only to see that Moose has already given the answer!!!!!

We have taken to buying different outerwear for our 2 as we have the same problem when they are dressed the same! Plus we think our youngest is going to be quite tall and despite the 22 month age gap there is only about 5cm height difference at the moment which makes things even more difficult!

Thanks for a lovely day yesterday - when I got home hubby started going on about the train station at Manchester called Piccadilly (but pronounced it Piccallili) and I started laughing - he obviously couldn't work out what was wrong and I just said it was something to do with lunch at work!!!!!

Happy Thirsty Thursday guys!

Yes he reads CE blog occasionally but tonight is a busy one as he gets the boys out to gymnastics by 6 so hopefully he won't have time.

However, if he does and then comes for a visit over here I dedicate this small message to him - love you darling and can you do the pantomime baddie laugh for Hazel Love please!

It must be nearly lunch time by now... My Sky+ box has now been fitted and the nice men didn't even stay for coffee (most unusual for men in blue overalls). My wonderful cleaner is now doing my windows for me so I don't need your services today Hazel (though thanks for the invitation) and I must warn anyone that takes up her kind offer that they will have to undertake a risk assesment analysis before she allowed anywhere near a leather (other cleaning cloths are avaiable but they're not half as lovely between your fingers when wet).

With that I'm contemplating lunch... any suggestions?

Hello everyone

Hey moose, Thanks for the answers on the quiz..saved a bit of time…I was speed reading (I had a factory trial this morning, so I am having to catch up) Those Mooselets are soooo cute

Susan S – Having read comments today and yesterday Pm, I gather you’ve done something lovely over on your side..I am a bit a of a cluts/durbrain when it comes to finding stuff….will it be obvious when I click on your name? I have to do that at home…but thank you in advance, it sounds like you did a super job..digital cameras and putting on photos is way beyond me, so I did not photograph my clothes.yesterday, .they were bright and I was cheery yesterday.

Chocolate eggs and bacon – yum…surely Jo will have a comment on that..any cravings yet? (apart from cheese, of course)

I will have to go back to look at he rugby match teams….but how about the allpinks versus the allbabyblues? Who’d win that one?

Hey Keith – Ask Moose about his Hareem!

Hazel..I’d pay double for windows..my cleaning lady said ( at her interview) “I don’t do windows!” well neither do I- what a slut I am!

Off to track down my prawn and parsley pyramids and my smoked salmon crescents…back in a min.. Oh and I’ve stopped atkins, 3 lbs then nothing, so back to “healthy eating” so..I am I in time for an afternoon dunk?

A Whip Arrester is far more interesting in itself than the job it does.

It is actually supposed to stop an air hose from flicking someone in the eye.

It will not, however, slow me down with the leather, but that's not for here...

Yoghurt all gone.

Oh, did I mention we have Her Maj visiting today? No? Thought not. I am going to ask her to officially open my Bird Feeder, then I can say it's by Royal Appointment. Apparently she's gonna be walking the corgs on the footie pitch oop t' road a bit later.

Just off to iron a bit of ribbon.

Moose told me to shhh yesterday!

Moose said...

Americano (also café américano) is a style of coffee prepared by adding espresso to hot water, giving a similar strength but different flavor than regular drip coffee. This variety of coffee is known in Australia as a long black. Like espresso, Americano tends to be an acquired taste, and many drinkers prefer it black and unsweetened to fully appreciate the differences in taste from regular coffee.[citation needed] Americano also refers to a cocktail containing martini rosso, campari, and soda.

Is it too early?

As I spent yesterday at the car auction I thought you may like this little joke!

Used Car:

It was a small town and the patrolman was making his evening rounds. As he was checking a used car lot, he came upon two little old ladies sitting in a used car.

He stopped and asked them why they were sitting there in the car. Were they trying to steal it?

"Heavens no!" they exclaimed, "we bought it."

"Then why don't you drive it away?" the officer asked.

"We can't drive," they replied.

"Then why in the world did you buy it?"

"Well," they answered, "we were told that if we bought a used car here, we'd get screwed. We're just waiting."

annalog, DAHLING! Balaclava is absolutely DELISHUS - mind you, it needs to be fresh...it is SO easy to make too...

Courtesy of those good folks at wikipedia...

Baklava or Baklawa is a rich, sweet pastry found in many cuisines of the Middle East, the Balkans and South Asia and developed in Ottoman cuisine. It is made of chopped nuts, usually walnuts or pistachios, layered with phyllo pastry, sweetened with sugar or honey syrup.

...although not as good, I am led to believe, as the Chocolate Cookie Sandwich as previously mentioned...

Too late I have merembered I don't like chocolate ice cream (not with the venon I reserve for prunes and squid) particularly. Not that keen on ice cream at all come to that. You should never put something that cold inside yourself.
