Piggy piggy porker

Boy I've pigged out tonight...the biggest meal I've had all week - pasta and sausage/lentil/tomato sauce. I feel really bloated and I didn't stop when full. And yet I'm still 300 calories below my target total for the day. So for once I don't have to feel TOO bad about pigging out.
In the past, not counting the calories, I would have felt bad about it and lost motivation. I would have then had a bad day tomorrow rather than just starting all over again. That's why I believe it's so important to KNOW with certainty your approximate calorie intake.
When I say about being obsessive I really don't mean weighing every foodstuff and counting every single calorie, but I do mean making a decent estimate to know whether you are 300 calories over or under your allowance. Or 3,000! I guess that's where the points systems of WW and other competitor "Fatfighters" clubs come from - they are decent approximations and much easier to count up.

Four days into my 9 weeks and I've theoretically lost a kg already. Not that it feels like that with the pot belly I've got just at the moment! I was noticing today at work just how loose the old trousers were feeling...pretty soon I'm going to have to punch a new hole in my belt.

And there's a new series of House to be watched at 9...knocks Hotel Babylon off top spot for a Thursday night. House, or as my sister-in-law calls it "Doctors walking in corridors"...it's true. I can't watch with her around because she shrieks with laughter every time it happens and I miss important diagnosis dialogue.
If you are bored tonight and want something to do to fill time, watch House with a stopwatch and time how much programme time is taken up of shots of Hugh Laurie or other doctors walking in corridors discussing diagnoses...it's been estimated that in some episodes it reaches one third of the total air time!

Moose's Fatfighters data for Thursday 22nd March for Moose:
Basic allowance: 3,000 cals
Exercise: 770 cals
Total allowance: 3,770 cals (for zero weight loss)
Target: 1,970 cals (for 2st weight loss in 9 weeks)
Actual: 1,660 cals
Balance: 310 cals

methinks the moose is feeling a little frisky with his new found slimdom.

Evening all, youve all had a good day today, and moose - good to see you enjoying the committment to your cause. I can see the weight falling off you already!

I on the other hand am celebrating bad mother of the year award (again). Having worked pretty much 8am till 11pm for the last two weeks (bar two seperate days off) I decided to take today off and spend it with the mancub. Because i was feeling sick and headachey with tiredness i decided to put him in nursery as usual this morning and pick him up at 11.30 to have the rest of the day with him.

Best laid plans are fine except that i didnt wake up till 1.15 this afternoon. jumped out of bed, giving myself an almighty headache for the rest of the day, and ran off to get him. We had a nice afternoon despite my bad head but i do feel bad that i couldnt get my arse in gear to pick him up earlier.

Anyway, cooked a spag bol (low fat of course) so that i could have mine tonight and him in doors and the man cub could have theirs tomorrow when i am back at work.

House is a state, washing is piling up, dog needs walking and i am about to go back to bed. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

hope you are all well, doing well on the healthy eating kick, and generally having fun.

xx

PS Sammie - enjoy it, feel the fear and all that.

You've been on the vino before I have!!!!

You are doing so well with this! I haven't got my head round the calorie side of things ... not good with figures ... so I'm wondering whether to concentrate on the Weight Watchers points system cos I get that!

I've started doing more dancing with Charis and crunchies ... but was wondering if Hazel had any suggestions cos I remember her talking about backwards sit ups.

Oooo ... nice red skirt, huh?

Moose, I am impressed with your commitment to the cause. Don't let one bad day put you off though. As you rightly say - you can always start again tomorrow.

Interesting point you made about continuing to eat, even though you were full. It took me ages to re-train myself to get used to smaller portions. I think being told when growing up that I had to finish every mouthful on my plate prevented me from listening to my body tell me when I'd had enough. I'm quite comfortable with leaving food now (if I go out and am served with a large portion), but for ages, I just had to make sure I had the 'correct' portions on my plate.

Anna- don't beat yourself up too much about the time with your mancub today. Sounds to me as though you needed the rest - something I CAN sympathise with!

Have just turned House on (the tv, Gaby!!) but have decided to go to bed to await K's evening call, so I won't be clocking corridor time this evening!

Night all,

S xx.

A disappointingly small amount of corridor walking in the new series...
...but I still prefer House to Hotel Babylon.

Very tired and weary. Have loads I want to come back to you all on, but that'll be tomorrow.

Morning all

Once again, TFIF.

The weeks are flying by at the moment. Worse still, Monday will be upon us an hour faster than usual!

This is our last weekend of loafing about for a little while. Tomorrow, a quick trip to the shops will be swiftly followed by a full on gym sesh (vacationing DJs may be available) and then home for the first viewing of Casino Royale and then, and I don't why I still bother to put myself through it, the England match.

In trying to get to sleep last night I found myself on a sort of analyst's couch. The summary of the session would read as follows;

Generally positive, but prone to bouts of negativity.

Happy with life generally (marriage, abode, lifestyle, health), but deeply frustrated with work and direction.

Borderline OCD!

Drinks too much on occasions.

I could go on, but it would make pretty boring reading. I think the upshot is that in many ways I am at a real crossroads in life and it is entirely up to me which path I choose. I feel I have so much pent up creativity in me, I just need the catalyst to help me release it.

Enough self life-coaching for one morning.

Happy days

MfR

Hubba Hubba Moose man!

See already you are reaping the rewards of calorie couting - I can sense a more positive and smiley moose at the other end of the t'interweb thingy! Have found smiley moose picture and posted to photobucket on this link!

Obviously you have to copy and paste all thelines but I think you will find it a close approximation to the actual moose!

Gave up calorie counting yesterday as was out all day with work and had buffet - mostly brown food which I know is rubbish! However I did take advantage of the non-counting day to have indian takeaway (although I only ever eat 1/2 of what they give me and there is no cream in my fave dishes!)

Anna - Obviously you were in need of a duvet day, don't feel guilty about the mancub, apologise to your body for making it so tired in the first place.

MfR - Try placing yourself in a blank room - with the creative bits you want and go for it, sometimes I think a white room is a must for every household but then reality sets in and I remember that we have a puppy and a baby on the way, d'oh.

:o) Jo

PS All puppies growing rapidly!

PPS naughty corner party is ON!!!

At last it’s Friday! Moose don’t worry on the meal last night, you are still fully committed to this and that is the most important thing. I failed last night by getting home late and then not wanting to cook so hence did not eat properly at all, to make it worse I am now so hungry this morning I just know its going to be one of those days where I eat more than usual - I hope to make up for it this evening with a couple of games of squash.

I have to admit I have never watched House, so may have to give it a go – its still Hotel Babylon for me, but next Thursday (if I remember) I may venture into new territory.

MfR you are so right, the weeks seem to be going so quickly at the moment, but to be honest I am just counting down the days to the four day weeks we have approaching and the chance to have an extra few days over Easter, putting work aside and enjoying life that little bit more.

Does anyone have plans for Easter? We have no plans and generally use the weekend to catch up at home instead if visit family. We decided a long time ago not to do the whole Easter egg giving in the family (even for the Children) and it is so much better. Having said that, hubby did announce this week he is expecting the biggest chocolate egg I can find and if not then can he have more than 1, so it looks like a may have some shopping to do after all.

Have a good Friday all

Congratulations Moose on your commitment to the fatfighter thingy. I lapsed yesterday when someone wafted a Hot Cross Bun under my nose, but I'm determined to resist all temptation today.

Hope Mooselet #1 is now back to rude health and Mrs Moose has caught up on her rest. It was nice to your hear positive report about your local health service. People are very quick to criticise but not so quick to praise where the NHS is concerned and (as a past employee of the NHS) it makes me cross.

I LOVE House (or dottor'ouse as those Italians amongst you will know him) - he's so grouchy. And Hugh Laurie has the loveliest blue eyes ... Haven't seen last nights yet as Mr L was watching Hotel Babylon but will catch up this evening.

Couldn't post yesterday as it was too busy at work, but I did check in from time to time to see what you were all up to.

Have a good Friday peeps. Will check in later.

ps I'm up for a party in the naughty corner - is it invitation only or can any innuendo get you in???

Didja miss me when I was away...didja hang my picture on your wall? didja, didja?

I moosed you!

Anyhoo, as you may well remember I
was at my Step-dads 70th birthday lunch in Crawley, about 25 miles up the road. Did have major pavlova prior to that in that the boy couldn't come after all as he'd developed an abcess on his tooth - had to do mercy dash to dentist - fortunately also in Crawley, and then he couldn't unlock his car because the central locking had failed - we are just waiting for the traffic wardens to have a field day...

Anyhoo, the lunch was absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS! Truly scrumptious. Three beautiful courses followed by coffee and birthday cake. S-d had a fab time, and relatives were there from all over - even Spain! Really good to see them all too.

...and now the boy has arrived home from work this morning having knocked half his front tooth out biting a bit of skin from his fingernail...un-blimmin-believably...!!! Compared to the injuries he picks up in the usual course of events...BITING HIS BLEEDIN FINGERNAIL!!

Ah well...spose I wouldn't love him if he was any different...

Back at the ranch today........Masses to do....

Tried on Trousers last eve. Couldn't find tape measure on Weds so will make concerted effort to empty sideboard later because I know it's in there somewhere but am going dancin' tonight with friends so am hoping to be about a yard thinner tomorrow...

It has taken me since about 0815 to write this...are we having lo-cal dunk ins today?

Morning all,
Jo's smiling moose now up on the blog...
Mooselet #1 still not in rude health but improving. Back to the hospital this morning for more blood tests and results from Wednesday.
Will be off from here at 2 to collect Mooselet #2 from nursery. In the meantime I have coffee appointment and soup appointment. I also finished draft 2 of chapter 4 yesterday and that was as far as I'd planned in detail, so I need to get my planning hat on again for the remaining chapters, then write a synopsis based on it.

Bacon and egg sarnie was indeed the order of the day - again with no bread! Swim this morning followed by long chat in the jacuzzi with some potential future business prospects, so...

Hi Andy if you're looking!

Good morning all! YAY!!! It's FRIDAY!

Sorry about yesterday - things still not sorted out, but feeling a bit more with it today, so normal blogging resumes! Mind you, hubby and I aren't really speaking, so that should make for an interesting weekend! We are meeting up with a bunch of photographers I met on 'tinternet tomorrow - at least I'll have 28 other folk to talk to!

Anna - I'm sure we could all share that award! My wee lass is really poorly today - up all night with a horrendous cough, sore throat and a breaky voice! I'm sorry you've had to work such long hours, honey. Don't worry about the house, but might be best to let the dog out to the garden!

Sammie - I hate small portions! I always feel like I'm cheating everyone! A friend suggested getting smaller plates. Well done you!

MfR - Hark at you looking to Monday already! Behave! OCD? So, creatively, what do you want to do?

Jo - You know you can get away with not calorie counting, honey! It was after Charis was born that I put the weight!

T - Porridge - fills you up for ages and energisies you! I love House! Hugh Lawrie is fantastic in it! But I can't believe they didn't tell him last night! Like he's not going to hear one of the nurses talking about the miraculous recovery! Doh! I'm not in to the Easter Egg thing either! We have a couple of nights in Glasgow with my folks, then may head to the East Coast for a couple of days .... assuming hubby and I are actually talking by then, and my folks are talking to him! I saw an Easter Bunny for £30 in M&S (other High St stores are available!)!!!!

Wise words Moose.

I will give some thought to your questions and let you know.

I think that it is something I need to ponder over at the weekend rather than between cashflow forecasts and stock age analysis!

Hazel. Glad you had a good day yesterday. You should have trundled the 20 or so miles down the road to Rudgwick while you were there! I suppose that if my feelings are fairly common there is hope for me yet!

I forgot to add;

Recovering insomniac. I am improving on this front. The key is, as I read somewhere, 'create a sleep sanctuary'. There are, however, downsides to rearranging one's domestic set up....

Matt - if your cashflow is fine but your stock a bit aged I could take one of the very old ones off your hands for 1p. Only if you insist!

Oh dear, hubby is kicking off via text! Deep joy! The joys of living with a man who hates conflict and communicating. I think the whole shambolick thing needs a pome to take the seriousness out of it!

Annalog - I'm sure a hot cross bun wouldn't make too much difference! Hope you're not too busy today!

Hazel love - 'Course we missed you darling! Can't believe you had the dentist on top of heading for the birthday bash, then dodgy central locking! Is the car still there? That happened to us, but I just phoned the police and the contacted the traffic wardens, so I didn't get a ticket. How lovely for your step-dad to have all his loved ones around him,and a fabulous meal. Yup - watched Camberwick Green last night! How bizarre is that!?

Moose - Still praying for Mooselet#1 - poor wee soul. Let us know how he gets on this morning. Hugs to him and Mrs Moose ... and for Mooselet#2 incase he feels left out! Well done for finishing draft 2! You freaked me out with the 'Hi Andy' - that's hubby's name!

MfR - egg sucking training session coming up...

A Sleep Sanctuary. This is not a hard thing to accomplish. (I say that but if you live in a studio flat, it is a little more complicated...other types of accommodation available ie 3Bd.EOT.SWF.GSH etc)

First of all, put any clothes away tidily, or into washing basket. Tidy, clean or polish any surfaces - chest of drawers, dressing table, window sills etc - and clear of anything extraneous which you don't need, use or admire.

Hoover - everywhere in the room - and EMPTY THE BAG AFTERWARDS into the bin to be thrown away.

Make the bed with clean linen, (might as well start with a clean slate) and put the old stuff on to wash.

Remove or cover mirrors, same with any televisions, and definitely computers and any associated computer equipment.

Close any drawers and wardrobe doors.

Open the window/s for at least twenty minutes a day - doesn't have to be W I D E - just for ventilation is fine.

Don't keep your mobile phone by the bed - likewise any remote controls...it's fine just having a lamp and a digital clock...but if you have a connected telephone in the bedroom - get rid. How many times do you use it, and wish you hadn't answered it while you were lying in bed...

Basically, keep the room clean, tidy and aired. You don't need any smelly candles or oils. If you can walk into the room and there is nowhere that dust or negativity can hide or be reflected from, you should be able to feel more comfortable.

Having said that, the room should ultimately feel relaxing, so even when you are suffering insomnia for whatever reason, you should still feel at rest when you are in there.

Hope this helps! Even though I'm having problems sleeping, and I know why, I still feel calm and relaxed in our boudoir...

Sorry Hazel, I didn't word it very well.

I already have created a sleep sanctuary. One of the bedrooms has no electrical equipment in it, is really cold when I fling the windows open and has a lovely big bed in it where I can pop Nytol and drift off listening to McKenna.

The downside is that it is not the marital bed and I can only get decent sleep here.

See where I'm going with this?

MfR - sometimes I would love it if my husband would take huimself off to sleep in another room - bliss to be able to stretch out without getting told off for kicking him!

As for my tips for sleeping - get one of the Lumie bodyclock things - best £100 pounds I've ever spent as the room is darkened and I'm forced to put the book down and close my eyes, also it may have inadvertantly saved our marriage as Hubby no longer has to get out of bed in the middle of the night to turn my light off :o)

:o) Jo

Anonymous said...

aaaaah yes. You need to work out what it is that is REALLY keeping you awake...with me, I have already purchased tiny foam earplugs to erase the boy's snorrrrrrrring...but I appear to be constantly alert in case an elbow, foot, head, arm (other body parts available) is heading in my general direction, and is likely to cause me harm - which is a direct symptom of not sleeping due to mind running over with thoughts caused by stress about 'stuff'.

I think that once we have rounded this corner wot we are stuck at for the moment, the boy will be less 'active' (for want of a better word), my mind will be less active, so I will not wake up every time he shifts a millimetre, so I should (other possibilities are available) be able to get the full eight.

Totally understand what you are saying too. Bin there. Shrunk the t-shirt.

So, as SusanS said - What DO YOU WANT TO DO?

I think I need to take a week off, without Mrs MfR, not actually go anywhere, but just walk, swim, think, allow the creative juices to start flowing.

I know that once I get on the right path I will be able to achieve my aim.

And,as with Moose, its a book.

I have rough ideas and scribblings already, I just need to discipline myself enough to get on with it.

Damn this cashflow.

Matt,
I know the feeling. One of my plans once I have the time and freedom is to disappear for a week on my own, just take the laptop with me (and maybe the golf clubs...).

I have to do penance for it though - the return deal is I get to be househusband/taxi driver/school homework supervisor etc etc for a week or two. But it'll be worth it.

A sage piece of advice (not mine!) I heard for budding writers is to write something every day. Set yourself a suitable target of say 500 words and make sure you do it. You'll feel like you are getting somewhere in no time.

I wish I could follow it myself today but I managed to leave my flash drive at home. Doh! Modern technology is great but can trip you up at times, especially when you are trying to leave the house before 7am and not wake anybody up!

Mulligatawny soup anyone?

Anonymous said...

Mr MfR, if you can take leave and just be at home without Mrs MfR (I am assuming the lovely lady would be out at her work during the day?) I can highly recommend it. Get all the exercise out of the way in the morning, come home, eat delishus lunch, and get stuck in for the afternoon. Bliss.

Shame the weather isn't better yet coz I can't wait to do the same...but then I'd be darn the beach! B*gger working!

Furry bits are fine thank you. I have reverted to dressing them to the right though. You were talking about the antler fuzz, right?

Mooselet #1 has a streptococcal infection...I've looked this up and it can mean anything from a sore throat to meningitis as far as I can tell. NHS Direct is great but can be alarming! I am assuming it's one of the less problematic ones for the time being as he's not being hospitalized and instead is getting Penicillin for the next 10 days...and will apparently be back at school on Monday!

Anonymous said...

it's all very well having a flash drive but you need a flash car to park on it ...

Anonymous said...

I feel a week off coming....

Hazel. That was what I meant. Mrs MfR would be at work during the day leaving me to get all creative during the day.

Moose. I too carry my musings around with me on a flash drive (and I'm not talking about the luxury vehicles I sometimes get to take home).

Cashflow done. Weekly forecasts, then hello weekend!

Love to all

Moose said...

Matt - just like the sleeping space, you will need a writing space - somewhere you don't get distracted by washing up, hoovering, outstanding DIY projects, the TV etc etc...and somewhere that inspires you. If you don't have somewhere at home, better to go to the local library and find a regular corner for yourself.

Blogging can also be a distraction (so I've heard) but can also help to inspire...

Partly cloudy Saturday and Sunday with highs of 13degrees.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, sunny reaching a high of 17degrees on Wednesday, cooling back down for Thursday and Friday when we may see more clouds again with a high of possibly 15degrees.

Nights will still remain chilly for the moment though, so keep the winter draws on...Ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out...

That concludes the weekly forecast for the RH12 area.

I really must weed my drive this weekend to make it a bit more flash. Or should I just go for the RoundUp?

I expect the mooselet will park himself in front of the telly for most of the time, so I should get time to do lots of little jobs around the house.

I too missed Life on Mars on Tuesday so need to find out when I can catch up.

Phew! That mulligatawny was a bit spicy! ND doesn't list the extra calories you use when sweating out a curry soup...nor does it count extra calories for the sauna or steam room - a glaring error IMHO.

I have just learned that it would have been a better dietary choice for me at breakfast had I exchanged my bacon for Walrus liver. I shall have to bear that in mind in future. Maybe I should plan a trip to Baffin Island for my writing retreat. I am sure the local Inuit would provide me with a plentiful supply.

Whether we're being misunderstood

The weekend tomorrow and still I'm not free
What I did last week is still haunting me
What might I tell them
Will they cut up rough
Or should I worry about tangible stuff

Then back again Monday too soon I regret
And thinking about things
I'd rather forget.

I thank you all for your inspiration today.

Afternoon Virtual Buddies!

Just back from hospital appointment (at 9.45 am!!!) with little man. Have seen a Paediatrician (twice) and an Eye Specialist - clean bill of health thankfully!

Now, the question is, do I work or not??? It is Friday, I have started with a cold this morning and I don't have anything 'urgent' to complete - hmmm, tricky one.

MfR - beware of too much thinking time!!! It's true, we should examine our lives from time to time, but sometimes, too much introspection can lead to 'grass is greener' thoughts. Just be aware...

Right, little man wants me to go and watch the climax of Diagnosis Murder (he loves it!!!) with him, so best log off. Will be back later.

Well if you want weather reports I'm pleased to say that ST19 will peak weather wise on Wednesday with a high of 15 degrees and mostly sunny - seems like a perfect day to spend in the garden (unfortunately am due to be in the BIG SMOKE that day so unlikely to reap the reewards!)

Love the pome Hazel - very thought provoking!

The Husband has just bought Casino Royale on DVD to watch tonight - he had conveniently forgotten that we are due to go to his folks for tea and some rather dreary conversation!

:o) Jo (who would be divorce if Hubby saw above sentance, am pregnant it's the hormones!)

I have a bit of a dilemma.

Our next door neighbours are the mens and ladies captains at the golf club (the gym is part of the club).

Neither Mrs MfR or I play golf, well, I used to, (we're members of the gym bit) but we've been asked to play in a tournament at Easter as 'non players' - a bit like the old darts player and 'non' darts player bit on Bullseye.

I would partner the ladies captain, and Mrs MfR, the mens.

Problem is, I used to play a bit.

If I played OK on the day I would be accused of being a ringer, so should I hope to play badly or just 'play badly'?

Or, should I just get a grip, stop worrying about stupid things and get on with it?

Don't answer the last bit.

Have a fab weekend all. I shall pop in now and then to see how you are getting on.

Peace & love

MfR

Dear MfR - the only grip you need is on a golf club...

I would count myself lucky to be asked and say yes thank you we'd love to. Just ensure you pop to the market on your day off to get some pringle knock offs and you'll be fine!

However you will need two pairs of socks though in case you get a hole in one.

Sammie - am confused. Was your appointment at the hospital with a midget? No matter. I expect you are all of a jitter with your K on his way back soon....oh so soon! Lucky gel. Have a blinding weekend babe!

Can someone pass the gin please? I seem to be suffering a glut of tonic...

Thanks Hazel

Everything is so much clearer now.

You putt things so well.

Time for a quick tee before hitting the road and a long drive home.

You could have tee and cake. Cept when my friend asked for cake at a posh persons birthday party she got given icing sugar on a mirror....Diet Cake.

Hazel - the lure of the lovely gin - mmmm OR black vodka (yummy floated on cranberry juice!) - alas not for me - not when I have a game the next day!! How dull. Mind you, it's the last game of the season tomorrow and we're being relegated anyway....

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of answering a phone, so now have to work :-( not v much enthusiasm.

I was about to type that I am a little melancholic this week, but K just rang, so feel MUCH brighter!! He and his buddy are off to Cape Canaveral this afternoon, spending the day there tomorrow and then driving to Daytona Beach tomorrow night. Having the day there Sunday and then back to Savannah on Sunday night - what a great trip!!! I shall be driving to Coventry, via Stratford tomorrow morning, then to Leamington, then back to Stratford and then home. Back to Coventry for the evening, then home. Sunday back to Coventry again (wish I could get little man to change his rugby club), then shopping, then home. Hmm - not quite the same, is it?

Why do I make things sooooo complicated???

Will do Haze.

Gaby.

I never knew you cared.

Oh. Not this Matthew then.

Rescued the golf clubs from the corner of my office. Will be heading to the range this weekend for a little practise.

DWNB. Sorry to hear you are under the weather. GWS.

Sammie. That east coast stretch into Georgia is lovely. My long lost family are from the state and we have travelled that way several times. Make sure you go next time.

Vino is lovely. Susan. Where are you?

You know my name.

MfR. Getting in the mood for Casino Royale.

I would be just about to crack a red open but overindulged at tea on cheese with my jacket potato so I have no allowance left. Great thing is I don't feel bad about it at all.
Water for me please!
Mrs Moose is off watching Oliver by the local am drams and I have to remember to wake mooselet #1 up later to give him his penicillin tablet...apparently the 4 have to be as evenly spread as possible. Should be fun for the next 10 days.

DWNB - I think House is one of the programs available on t'interweb...might be worth a search. Or failing that, 5 don't have a lot of programmes so it'll probably be repeated sometime!

Gaby - like the hair! Matthew told me it really suited you when I was in the sauna with him earlier - oh no that's a parallel universe.

Have a great weekend everyone...

Moose (not suffering the usual Friday blues!)

Nice one Moose.

Enjoy your Friday. If it is a 'Moose-moment', savour it and then welcome Mrs Moose back into the fold later.

Like you, I relish my time alone, but love it when we're together again. If you can strike the balance, then life is just right.

Crack the wine mate. Just do a few more laps of the pool tomorrow.

You know it makes sense.

Best wishes

MfR

Matt - wish I could, but weekends are usually short on the exercise front. With mooselet ill we're unlikely to get out walking...so I'm facing the prospect of 2 x 1,200 calorie days on the trot.

My grand plan was to get the skipping rope out tonight and eat later - on the assumption Mrs Moose wouldn't be eating before she went out. Got that one wrong!

MfR - I most certainly will take up the gorgeous K on such a fab offer next time. There's a strong possibility he will have to go back, so watch this space!!! Also, I bet things with Mrs MfR will be well and truly smoothed over by now - xx to her!

Have broken the rule, with one glass of vino - question is - more, or not?

Also - why did my sister call me today to gloat (her expression!) over the fact that she's just booked her second holiday this year? I think we can barely manage one...

And another thing - why is TV so crappy?

Finally - why does my daughters bedroom pong so much????

The answers to these and other questions later (after vino ahs clarified things for me!)

Happy Friday peeps!!!

Matt f R - : )...I hadn't thought of that - that really made me smile : )

I don't think I can play the i've-been-good-with-my-low-calorie-intake game.

Fish n Chips for tea - just about to have cup of tea and a couple of biscuits. Lunch - chicken crisps ( I knew I wouldn't get lucky this afternoon, so took a risk on the smelly crisps ; )), ham sandwich and big slice of cherry and sultana loaf. I'm also pretty sure that I saw a couple of biscuits this afternoon. OH and a packet of crinkle cut cheddars at some stage. I know, I know, that is very naughty. I've had a difficult day my friends. Actually, would probably have eaten that much anyway : )

Very difficult day actually. perhaps, when we shed tears we expend energy and then need to eat more. That would explain much.

Apart from the stuff that's happened today, I was wobbling anyway - am now jobless (and not even a wonder) and the kids are going away for 10 days soon. I am so used to having them all the time as he doesn't see them that much - it will be a very big change for me when they go this time.

My plan was to fall in love with blind-date man and go on a mini-break (!) with him over the holidays. He blew me out (out) - - I can't be arsed to think about it - was amusing really.

So now, in the words of Gilbert and Sullivan, I will be 'Alone Again, Naturally'.

I think I am going to start going to my local pool for the occasional sauna. Seems like one can have fun there. I used to swim lots....really lots.....stopped a few years ago....don't laugh.....I said, don't laugh....I got really bad vertigo doing front crawl - when the water got in my ears and my head went from side to side - I hope you're not laughing. It sloshed (wish I was) the water about in my middle ear and caused me to nearly pass out. Not good in the deep end or the shallow come to think of it.

Anyway, I thought a few lengths of a rather sedate breast stroke followed by a sauna, would be a good focus each day my girls are away.

love to you all

Gaby

Warning: that last post is a long one

ps hindsight is a wonderful thing

Gaby - I can FULLY sympathise! The first time my kids were away from me (with Ex), I thought I would die of loneliness.

The next time, I filled my weekend up, so that I barely had time to think about anything.

When they were away for a week the first time, it nearly killed me, but I busied myself, so that the night before they were coming back, I was rushing round doing all the stuff I needed to get done before their return.

It does get easier my friend, filling the gap with 'someone' is alays attractive, but also empty when all's said and done.

Was just bemoaning the fact that I am here, alone, but you've just blogged, so I guess I'm not!
