The seaside makes you sick...

The half-term holiday is upon us. In the moose household we're going for a split week, probably with alternating days of mooselet duty and each of us 'doing our own thing'. So I took the boys to the seaside today. A great time digging, kicking a football, eating a picnic in the car (due to light drizzle) and coffee and cake in a very nice cafe.

On the way back, #2 fell asleep and as we passed Castle Hedingham, I recalled a time a couple of years ago that I had taken them to the same beach and #2 had thrown up all over himself at that specific spot. I'd stopped in a lay-by to clean him (and the car) up a bit before continuing the drive home.

Today we got home and the mooselets watched a little TV before eating tea. Towards the end of the meal, I was called to the table by the words 'Daddy, I feel like I'm going to be sick'. Which he then was. I was just too late with the bowl. Thank goodness for paper towels and washing machines!

I am never going to Frinton ever again!!!

Yes, Moose, avoid that place at all costs! Poor wee mooselet, hope he is o.k. now.

I am feeling a good bit better today. I managed to hobble along to the clinic yesterday and a wonderful man stuck several needles in my back for 40 mins. The result is incredible - it's like a miracle cure. I'm not 100% yet (have to go back next week) but there is now hardly any pain and I am able to walk normally. But carefully!

I spent all of last night sitting in a upright chair, watching TV - UC, Nigella, and then Doc Martin. I really will be getting square eyes!

DD - really thinking of you. It's going to take a long time for your wife to recover and all you can do is just be there for her. xx

Back later.

Hope the Mooselet is recovered now and raring to go for the rest of half-term. Isn't it odd how some places have that effect on you? Frowing up in Frinton ...

I'm more of a nauseous in Northampton or singing in Southsea kind of gal. I feel a theme coming on here. Gloating in Glasgow perhaps?

Glad your back's on the mend Chrissie. Have never tried acupuncture myself - can't see the point. (Sorry it was supposed to be a joke, but sounded better than it looks written down!)

Ooh, I've love to be able to play the ukelele.

Just had word from La Love - she's fine but not quite dandy as they're still not exactly sure what's going on but she'll be back with us tomorrow.

Jollygit - thanks for letting us know about Hazel.

Hazel, if you read this, we're all thinking of you. xx

I am giving notice of my absence tomorrow - I have a few more days to take before the end of the year, so tomorrow is one of them. Nice quiet morning planned: See Mr and MsS off the premises, Terry Wogan, breakfast, bit of housework. Then, I'm meeting my sister and we're going to hear Jackie Stewart give a talk in the Concert Hall - really just promoting his book. I'm looking forward to it.

So, back on Thursday - take care everyone.

Afternoon all!

Hope Hazel back soon, fine AND dandy to boot!

I too am giving notice of absence, from tomorrow until Monday. I am going to collect my beautiful boys from their very tired grandparents tomorrow and then spending quality time with them at home for the rest of the week - have I missed them, just a huge amount and can't wait to be reunited with them tomorrow afternoon!!

Boozing in Bolton! (well maybe a little one tonight)

Moose - hope #2 is feeling better today - obviously the Frinton sea air doesn't agree with him - poor lad!

See you all next week!

Thanks for the wishes to mooselet #2. However what I neglected to say is that two seconds after throwing up he was on top form. As normal. But then he's not the one that gets to clear up the mess!

Just a wee note of celebration. It's done. Again.

The second draft, that is. Final scenes written in the last chapter today. Roughly 93,000 words.
I am going to 'let it lie' for a couple of days before printing it out and reading the whole thing through, so as to correct any plot threads that don't work, and gather the relevant bits I need to write the synopsis. When that's done I shall do a final edit for grammar, style etc. So I'm not really done. But it still feels like a moment worth celebrating...I'm pleased with how I ended it. A little twist that even I didn't see coming has popped up that I quite like.

Off home now to immerse myself in filing and paperwork. Oh joy!

Anonymous said...

Moose, so you finish the book and just a wee not of celebration? I would call for a WOOOOPDEDODA DAY kind of celebration! :-) Well done my freind good luck with the proof reading.

Please mooslet #2 recovered so fast, oh to be young again.

Chrissie I had the needles in my back and I have to say they worked in releiving the pain. Eventually my back went bang (rugby did not help) and only an operation cured it. :-( stil that was 1991 and it has not given me very much trouble in recent years.

On my weight loss before I go. I originaly set myself a weight loss goal with an aim of making it by February 2008. I can now tell you that on my last weigh in I have already made it.

I am going away again today for a little journey to see some freinds in Bognor Regis. I am expecting an evening if drinking port and good company,(Hic). Not that far from HL so I will keep an eye out...

So from a very happy not so BigUn.

Keep smiling :-)))

Moose, sicky children. I am very impressed at your coping skills. My friend Catherine threw up on the Waltzer at Littlehampton, and I couldn't get away quick enough! Glad young Moose is fully recovered though.

Occurring thought...don't only old people old to Frinton? Like Worthing and Clacton and Eastbourne. Full of old ladies on deckchairs wearing headscarves and coats with their bags on their laps. Bring the kidlets to Brighton - feed them chips, doughnuts and candyfloss, THEN see how sick you can make them...

Coffee and cake inna caff. Nice alliteration. Congratulations on the big finish...and the book as well...

Oh, Keeeee-heeeeeeith! I too have friends in Bognor Regis...I wonder if they are the same ones...

Thank you all for your kind wishes...the scan went well...if I have had gallstones, I haven't got 'em anymore...now they need to find out wot I HAVE got...I started wishing I did have them, coz if I had to have 'em out, I could've sold 'em.

Nice to see you're back Hazel. Hope you find out what it is soon. Shame it isn't gallstones because you could have had them removed, polished and mounted as an interesting item of jewellery.

Congratulations on the weight loss Keith. Have you tried drinking port & lemon? Its less lumpy than port & good company ...

Hi!!!

Off work today, one of the only two days I'm allowed this week. Pooee to bad bosses!

Had Monday off also and went to Drayton Manor Park. I actually went on all the rides! I NEVER go on anything, so the kids were thrilled that I joined them. I also bought the photos, knowing that no-one would ever believe me!!

Moose - congrats on completing the novel - can't wait to read it!

Keith - congrats to you matey for reaching your weight loss goal. The trick now is to keep it off!!

Chrissie - sorry to read your back is troubling you - hope it mends soon.

HL - poorly Love!

I've just got back from taking my son to the Barbers (he had a 'proper' style!) and think I've been asked out on a date by one of the guys!!! Jongleurs on Saturday night! Never thought it would happen at the barbers!

H can't wait to see me tomorrow, Special Friend has texted from Corfu to say that he loves and misses me and can he see me next week.

Myself - I just want a bit of peace at the moment. Am going to the Monastry now for some peace and reflection, before heading off to buy a new washing machine.

Ah the exciting life of a career woman!

P.S. Still hoping for redundancy, then I can make plans for our move to Crete!

Helloooo everyone!

I'm aching to get back home to my bears. Have a final day in Nassau today before getting on the flight back to Heathrow tonight and then the drive up the M40 tomorrow. My old bear has been a bit wobbly while I've been away and I hate not being there for her.

I've been eaten alive by the bugs again and woke up yesterday morning with a black eye that I can't explain. No pain, no swelling just permanent purple eyeshadow! What a trip! No town meeting due to a government minister that double booked and a return trip in November to try to acompolish the same thing. At leat the people of Long Island are really friendly.

I hope the rest of you are keeping well. Can't believe HL still poorly gal! And DD my thoughts are with Mrs D. Chrissie my Dad swears that the needles are the only thing that gave him pain releif for years.

I shall be back tomorrow and I intend to lavish masses of affection on my bears!!!!

Back from my sojourn, having purchased a new washer that will be delivered tomorrow.

Am seeing H tomorrow after work, for a coffee, although not sure if I should having had more texts from A (the Special Friend).

In the immortal words of Ross in Friends "we were on a break!" springs to mind!!!

My daughter is laying on the sofa, under a duvet, with possibly the campest boy I have ever met, watching DVD's.

My son has gone to Cornwall with his Dad.

I have had my fix of serenity and really want to go out tonight. However, no-one is available!!!

I have embarked on a new art project. If it comes off, I may start to do it commercially.

Fingers crossed!

P.S. V v v quiet here today!

Morning all Thirsty Thursday, and I am (if you'll excuse the terminology) gagging for it!

Firstly Sammie, I can't believe you've been asked out on a date whilst taking your son to the barbers! What did the guy say "Something for the weekend, Madam?"

HL, good to see you back, hope you feel better soon, thanks to you and all the other moose bloggers for the kind words for me and Mrs DD. Mrs DD and I, I suppose it should be!

Nice to hear from Lyndyloo too, although I think we should re-christen her "Harlem" after all this globetrotting recently!

Anyway, time to go to work (might even have an egg first). Catch up with you laters!

DD out

PS Good Morning, Good Morning, the sun will shine the whole day through!

Hello and yes, I know it's Thirsty Thursday, but not for yours truly!
Think I may have overdone it slightly yesterday!

I met up with my sister and we went to hear Jackie Stewart promote his autobiography. Very interesting man, millions of funny (and some sad) stories. I managed to resist buying the book! Hopefully, Santa will bring it for me. And an iPod!

All that listening had made us terribly thirsty, so we had a glass or three of wine, I then went home reasonably sensible but proceeded to have another couple of glasses (large, naturally) with MrS, so I am feeling just slightly tired today. Serves me right!

Catching up: Moose - how wonderful you have finished the book. Now it's just the job of re-reading it 20 times, just to be sure!

Keith - you are a clever boy, well done! You must be feeling fantastic.

Sammie - you are really will have to get some sort of electronic address book for the names and numbers of all these guys! Good for you ...... decisions, decisions!

Lyndyloo - lovely to hear from you.
Your wee bears will be desperate to see you! Do they give you the cold shoulder when you get back?
You know, like, how very dare you go away!

Hazel, glad to hear you don't have gallstones. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon.

Briefly, I can hardly believe that my back is o.k. On Monday I was almost in tears with the pain, but the acupuncture has worked brilliantly.

Hope everyone is getting through what has been a very long day for me so far!

Well the furniture arrived for our new office. Except it was missing a desk and two sets of drawers. and 5 chairs. Anyone know how I can persuade 5 colleagues to move into a room with no seats? and one of them hasn't got a desk either. Hmmmm. Things could be better ....

We have had cake though (a very nice carrot & ginger specimen).

Hope Chrissie's head is getting better and Hazel got her tea. I should think DD is having a lie down in a darkened room by now what with the super early post and all!

Anonymous said...

Mmmmm ..... I love carrot cake. And a glass of milk.

Thank you Analog, I am feeling a bit better since my potato & leek soup at lunchtime. It's nice to know someone cares.

We had our office refurbished two years ago and a whole load of furniture was piled up in one corner along with old filing cabinets, all sorts of stuff for the dump. The "interior designer" arranged for a group of strong men to uplift all the stuff for the dump. Trouble is, they took our six boardroom chairs too, leaving us with a very lonely-looking boardroom table!

analog. Leave a small trail of aforementioned cake into the centre of the room and lock them in. They'll just have to sit on the floor.

Like school children.

Cross-legged and miming to hymns.

Sammie, I think you are most definitely suffering from London Bus or Policeman syndrome. I think the idea of an electronic address book is superb. I did have one, but the pages kept falling out.

Am cr@p with gadgets.

I do however, have a very good sense of direction

Hazel: I have the worst sense of direction ever. A couple of weeks ago, I went into River Island with MsS. We turned right into the changing rooms. She needed a different size of jeans, so I set off to get them. I walked out of the changing rooms, turned right, and headed straight into the gents department! Hopeless!

Evening all!

Am at home, instead of seeing H. Very confused about the whole things and think that while I am confused, it's best to stay away!

Barber guy told me he had two tickets to Jongleurs and did I want to go with him. V brash!!!

Anyhoo, I'm not going anywhere with anyone at the moment (famous last words...).

Glad to read you're all up to your usual naughtiness - I do love reading about your exploits!

Chrissie - I'm the same and one night, in a nightclub I hadn't been to before, I had rather too much happy juice, which of course really doesn't help. Tghe fact that the walls were all mirrored really did nothing for me either! I kept losing my friends whenever I went to the bar or the loo!!! Haven't been there since!!!

have a good evening all,

P.S. For DD {{{}}}

sammie, my friend had a bad go in a mirrored place too. She'd had more than one absinthe, and (according to her brother) spent 15minutes talking to her reflection...last time I was out anywhere near a mirror I met the Badger. There are lessons to be learnt here people!!!

I'd go out with the barber if it was me. I've never been to Jongleurs so purely mercenary...

Anyhoo, I have a wee bit of work to do so I may as well start, but in the meantime...DD, have another (HUG) and a XmwahX. For that matter, Moose and Keith you can have some too...

Morning!

You may recall me saying yesterday I felt a little tired. Well, I must have been more tired than I first thought. I overslept this morning - first time in at least 10 years! I waken at 6.25am every day, 7 days. Not this morning - 7.25 - for me, disaster! So, rather late into work but I feel better for the extra sleep!

Looking forward to the weekend. We are going to our friends' house tonight for nibbles and wine (not too much!) and then tomorrow night I am going with another pal to see Donny Osmond! (yes, I am aware I am a sad case!). I am loving my second bout of puberty!

Hazel: you were saying today is furday. I had a "fun fur" coat years ago and I can confirm it WAS fun! But, as Ms Love would say .... that's not for here.

Have a great Friday everyone.

Hi y'all

Apologies for my continued absence - have been knee deep in numbers which have to go to the TDA so that we get funding, blah blah blah .... anyway, thought I'd best nip in and say helloo.

I've also got my note for my absence on Monday, as I'm off to my lovely uncle's funeral in Brighton. Still can't quite believe it - my aunt and uncle had been married for 62 years and went everywhere together. My aunt is coping brilliantly at the moment, bless her but she must really be feeling his loss.

Anyhoo, some good news at last! 'Im indoors has just called to say that he's got some work up until Christmas, starting on Tuesday, and that they might well keep him on after that. We're off to NZ from 6-28 January which they're aware of, so fingers crossed that he does OK. He sounded so happy, I swear I could hear his tail wagging! Soo, a wee celebratory drink tonight, methinks .......

Hope you all have a lovely weekend - weather's not looking too good but for me the sun is shining.

Coo its quiet today. On the Moose blog and in the office. Not doing any work because we're supposed to be moving to the new pad and have packed stuff up to go. Only problem is the computers don't work in the new place. The IT man assured me they'd be OK for yesterday. But they're not. So I'm not going anywhere. Or doing anything either.

Things can only get better! If I don't come back again, have a great weekend folks despite the miserable weather forecast.

Where is everyone?! I have a good excuse - this has been the Friday from hell and everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. Hotels not booked, keys missing, you get the idea.

But what is everyone else's excuse?!

Jollygit - good news from Mr J - of course you must celebrate! He must be so happy, and you are too!

I bought my first Christmas present today - a Life on Mars calendar for my sister. I have told the girl I work with she has to tell MrS that she has seen Life on Mars calendars and that she is sure I would want one!

Analog - boring day for you. Could you come up here please and help me find those keys? Hope the computers get sorted out, or we'll really miss you!

Be back later.
