Three quarters...

Well actually I've been all the way there and back today. The MD seems like the sort of guy I can work with and if I can read body language at all then he thought the same about me.

Waiting to hear now...am tired though, was up at 4am and drank WAY too much coffee all day. I had forgotten that they make proper coffee in Germany. I actually started to feel my heart trying to escape frm my chest and my hands were shaking when I drank one in reception waiting to meet the man. OK, it was already my 4th shot, what with a double espresso at 6am at Heathrow and another cup on the plane, but that was decent stuff!!! I shall have to be careful I don't recreate a serious caffeine habit again if I go over!

Hope it's good news Moose. My only concern is that if you were twitching like the proverbial, he may think you have some kind of weird disease...you just have to hope he was a few spressers darn too...

Perhaps you were having matching spasms

ps Is that where they make sossidges?

pps Duntit REALLY annoy you when people call it eXpresso. Just a small thing, but irritating none the less. And yes, I have plenty else to think about...

Hi everyone - I'm back - was I missed? I've had a quick squiz through the last 3 weeks' worth of blogging and I'm gutted I missed the party and the Burns 'do'. 'Im indoors and meself went for a week's driving around the North Island and were incommunicado which is somewhere near Auckland!

The weather was fabby and soooo hot - so much so that today I will be mostly wearing as many layers as I can whilst still being able to get in and out of the car in order to get some grub in from Sainsbugs.

We drove to the Coromandel Peninsula, down to Hawke's Bay (wine, glorious wine), Lake Taupo, Rotorua, Raglan and back to Auckland. Round every corner there was the most amazing view and scenery ....... my nieces and nephews are gorgeous and my six-year old niece clung to me like a limpet even as I was getting into the car to leave for the airport. Heartstrings are now tugged to the max and I'm feeling wafty and lightheaded from jet-lag, and emotional from spending so much time with my bro and the kids and missing them like mad.

My 75-year old mum who came with us had never flown in her life before, but she was amazing. Took to the whole thing like a duck to water, considering it was such a long haul. I'm so proud of her for undertaking such a long trip first go and I've loved being with her for the whole adventure.

Anyhoo, have one washing machine-full on the go, just 2 more to go, then it's a cuppa and a Whittaker's peanut slab (have become slightly addicted to them) before I drive into town looking like Michelin man.

Sorry I've gone on so much but I suspect that in a few hours time, sleep will have enveloped me. Slept 12 hours from 7pm last night but still not enough.

Back to work tomorrow (bleurgh) but will try and catch up with you all soon.

You mad lot!

Moose - fingers crossed! Good to hear that the body language was favourable - I think you can tell EVERYTHING from body language!

Hazel - totally agree about the pronunciation thing. Years ago, I worked with a girl who pronounced "pizza" as "pisa". Drove me completely crazy!!!

Jollygit - welcome back! So glad your trip was such a great success. Yes, it must have been awful to leave your family behind after such a fabulous holiday together. This is just the worst, worst part when members of our family emigrate! It must have been a wonderful experience for your mum - and really emotional.

You are a brave girl facing the cold conditions today, but I guess you have no choice as there must be nothing to eat in the house!

Sleep as much as you can and expect to feel "cotton woolly" for a few days!

C xx

jollygit said...

Thanks Chrissie - 'cotton woolly' is a perfect description!

Mispronunciation ...... why do people say pacific instead of specific? And another thing .... when spelling a word beginning with the letter 'H', don't say haitch, it's aitch! Grrr.

Right - I really MUST get dressed now!

YAY!!! Jollygit's home!

Oh it's good to be back, it really is. For all the sunshine, the cleanliness everywhere - and I mean everywhere, the lack of crowds and the laid-backness of NZ and its people, I couldn't wait to get home and back into my own bed. Am I strange? I don't think so. I believe home is where your heart is, and mine happens to be in good old Blighty.

Have been into town to get some supplies in and I was suddenly struck by the jet-lag whilst at the checkout in Sainsbugs. Got home to find that 'im indoors had also struggled and his boss had sent him home .... it's the strangest sensation, jet lag - don't like it but it's a necessary evil, I s'pose.

Anyhoo, will tune in again tomorrow when hopefully the mist will have lifted slightly!

Love from jollygit xx

Mispronounciations

Lasagne pronounced Laz-arn-a by Mrs DD's Nan, makes me laugh and cringe at the same time!

Re. Coffee buzz, Used to work with a guy who put 4 heaped teaspoons of instant in every cup of coffee he made. If it doesn't dissolve the spoon it ain't coffee was his saying. I ended up letting him make the first one and then topping it up all day with just hot water. Many's the night I've been sittig in the chair shaking at 11:00 waiting for the buzz to subside!

Welcome home JG you missed a good Burn's night and fab party but otherwise we just missed you!

Oh, and there's always 'psgetti'.

Ferminchelli anyone?

Lord Dissing, you need your man-servant to bring you only coffee made with 100% arabica beans. This way you will avoid chemically treated caffeine, which is what you would get in any blend of instant...and although you may still stay awake, you won't (or shouldn't) get palpitations. 's gottab be worth a go!

Hi everyone!

Not caught up with all the postings yet - have been sick in mind and body... Much better now though, so thought it best to drop by and let you know I am OK.

Moving dates have been confirmed. Now that I am well again, I can speak to the new schools.

Therapist is going to get some 'family' counselling sorted, although, personally, I think decapitation would be good. Yeah I know, in this day and age, I shouldn't joke, but ggggggrrrrrr!!!!

Hope you're all well, will catch up over the weekend,

S xx.

P.S. Feel v good about the move, probably the most positive thing I have done in a while.

P.P.S. Have not vomited for 36 hours, but feel as though I've missed loads!!!

It ain't looking good folks!!! Blowing a howler at the moment and heavy snow forecast for tonight and tomorrow. That I can deal with, but the council employees who do the road clearing and gritting in Argyll have chosen today and the next 2 to go on strike. So who knows what the roads will be like once we leave the Highlands and head into Argyll!

DD - I rather liked the thought of Moose's harem having cakes on you on Tuesday!! What time is tea break then?!

Sammie, my pet, you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and that we wish we were closer to give you a big hug and a hand! Don't have anything to hand for decapitation, sorry!!

So, went to writing group tonight - why on earth didn't I do this before?! I was SOOOOOOOOOOO nervous! But it was such a great experience!

Huggles all,

Susan <><

Mmmmmmmmmmmm...doughnuts...

Heh heh, I knew there was a good reason to be looking forward to next week! I shall bring a spoon.

I've just had a thought too...Ring Doughnut Quoits. But that's not for here.

Sammie, I have a cleaver. I can do mates rates for you if you really feel you need it! I can thoroughly recommend the purchase of some bubble wrap for the move too. Not for wrapping, but for therapy. Works wonders!

ps It has struck me that I have not penned a Friday Pome for some time. I shall endeavour to rectify this at some point today, but, oh Moose, I really do have stoopid busy work to do...I guess it had to change evenchuarly...

ps I was thinking of having a 'dunk-in' at 11am...if there is indeed anyone else about?

Anonymous said...

I'm dunking early as the snow is getting heavier so we need to get on the road!

I brought some home-made scones and pancakes, still warm, and homemade jam - only strawberry though!! Oh, and I milked the cow at 5am and churned some butter too. Kept the cream and whipped it up!

I'm ready and willing for an 11 a.m. dunk-in!

Am still sucking my lady's finger.

But that's not for here either.

Have just this minute, and only just, finished larfing and larfing about a joke I made in my head.

But that probably isn't for here either, and I haven't quite worked out the finer points. Oh dear. That's got me going again.

So I'm going again

A Friday Pome (hoorah)

'Tribute to Lewis Carroll'

Never let it be said
If you stand on your head
That your feet will be up in the air

It may not be true
If it is, good for you

But mine are wound up in my hair.

Love the Friday pome. Darn it, I missed the dunk in earlier. Will attempt a re-entry with a Rich Tea at some point this afternoon.

Hope your jet lag is improving Jollygit - nice to see you back.
Best wishes to everyone else and here's hoping next week is an improvement on this one.

Sorry I haven't been much in evidence lately - bit of a moggy crisis with my old boy (19 and three quarters). Georgie finally went off to the great cat litter tray in the sky on Wednesday night thanks to a lovely vet lady. I've not felt much like communicating with anyone since then. But I'll be back next week.

Enjoy your weekends, whatever the weather does. (It's currently cold but sunny in Bath - blue skies and fluffy white clouds.) Bet it won't last!

Analog: so sorry to hear about Georgie. Thinking of you, I know it's not easy.

Hazel: wonderful poem - we have missed them. My lovely mum's "party piece" was doing handstands, which she did until she was well into her 50's and was a fairly shapely size 18! Apparently she was fairly supple. Oo-er!

DD - enjoy your last weekend as a thirty-something!

I have a message TO Jo: really missing you, get back here soon please. Can I pass on the snog and let one of the boys have it?!

Hi y'all

Analog - so sorry to hear about Georgie - huge hugs to you xxxx

The jet-lag is passing slowly but I fell asleep mid-meal last night ... that's never happened before! I'm hoping that I'll be better after the weekend anyhoo.

Batten down the hatches everyone and I hope you all have a lovely weekend, whatever the weather!

Catch up next week when hopefully the mist in front of my eyes will have lifted!

Hazel - loved the pome xx

Thoughts are with you honey xx
