About time...

Had a great relaxing day today with much coffee and chat this morning after a long lie-in. The rest of the family went out this afternoon for the mooselets to ride their bikes. I stayed at home (not space in the car for all of us and the bikes) in order to go for a run - how surprising is that!

We went out this evening to our favourite eating place and I achieved a couple of firsts despite eating very slightly too much. First first was that I didn't eat all my chips - I usually force them down however not hungry I am. Second first waa that I then left quite a bit of my dessert. I just hit that point where enough was enough, a point I usually miss and blunder straight through.

So finally it seems I might be learning some self control. At least when it comes to food. About time...

Apparently, a study (for WW) found that slim people ate their favourite piece of food on their plates first, whilst not so slim people did the opposite and left it to last. A point to remember then, the slimmies ate their favourite bit first, as they probably wouldn't eat all that was on their plate...

Good on you Moose, it took me a good bit longer to learn when I was full!

Mary - the 'up' days are fabulous. Remember them , etch them in your memory, so that when a 'down' day does hit - we ALL have them remember, you can go back to your good days and remember how they felt. x x x x

Had a good day today, had a walk at Staunton Harold Reservoir - absolutely beautiful. Then home and some pitching for my son (K bought him a baseball mitt and ball), unfortunately, he missed one of the balls, with the result of a very bloody nose! CSI would have a field day in my garden!

Right, K's logged on for a chat, so will drop in tomorrow.

Peace and love all,

S xx.

Moose - It's nice to hear your having "moose" time xx I really admire your willpower!

Sammie - Wise words, thank you xx
I was speaking to a close friend earlier and said similar! Whilst I'm enjoying every minute because "up" is a unique experience for me, when I have my "down" day, because I know they will come, I will take the sunshine from the good days to get me through :o) Thanks to my friends on the blog I know the sun will always come up tomorrow!

How thoughtful of K to buy a gift for your son :o) I'm so pleased it's going well for you Sammie xx

Susan - How was Anstruther?

Chrissie - Hope had a nice time on Friday with your Sister and Miss S xx

MfR - I've been thinking about you whilst watching the masters - I find it very relaxing watching golf! Good luck for Monday :o)

Night all (other remedies are available)

Hey All - I'm having one of my middle of the night moments. Not sure I have mentioned them before. It's more than just insomnia - which I suffer from fairly freqently. This is a zillion worrying thoughts running through my head to the point where I've had to get up at around 2am and will now probably be up all night. Usually I get up make some tea and watch TV - or rather channel hop through TV - just to try and take my mind off things. Tonight (this morning!) I've made some nice peppermint tea and thought I might find it of help to come to the Moose site. I could probably just sit here now until morning telling you a whole load of nothing - but I'll try to resist!

Going to try now and catch-up with some of the recent posts which I've just skipped through. So may be back later to comment.

If I'm not, well have a good Easter day everyone.

Haven't yet caught up on everything but:

Sammie – glad to hear that everything went well with K.

DWNB – sorry you are having to work the bank hols. But hope you get some good sales – yes pun was intended. By the way – think I got BPd on your site earlier. The buns are as gorgeous as ever.

Jo – what an interesting way to measure!

Susan – hope you are enjoying your trip to Anstruther – did you have fish and chips?

MWK – hope the sun is still shining for you.

Chrissie – did you have a good day out?

I'm now watching Cribs on one of the music channels. I do so hate celebrity - but if I get a chance to neb at where they live - then I will.

Btw - the CLP blog seems to be getting quieter and quieter. Or is it just the holiday effect.

Yip - it's me again.

Moose - I've just read Dr J McCs account of the Moose meets McCrumble evening - I recall you mentioning it in your blog. Sounds like you had quite a night.

Have decided that if I can stay up all night every night then I can keep up to date with blogs and postings. I expect I could eradicate my e-mail back-log at work - is it only me that has that problem. I could also find time to do all the other things I want to do. This sounds like a good plan .......... but I must be missing something - what do you think?

I promise not to post again today - I'm sure you're already thinking - tooooooooo muuuuuuuuuch!!!

Moose - I admire your willpower! I have the willpower of a chocolate fireguard and will clear my plate every time. I'm sure it goes back to being a child and being told "if you don't clear your plate you won't get any pudding"! Pudding was always my real weakness so of course I always, always cleared my plate - and still do!

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend - isn't the weather glorious? We're off to visit a castle today (we've got two of 'em within a 15 minute walk from home) - we've been talking of visiting this one for months, so a leisurely amble along the prom and we'll be there. Perhaps a cup of tea and a hot x bun afterwards would be OK, do you think?

Jo - what a great way to measure the bump! Glad you're OK.

ps nay NB. If you clean your teeth and rinse with your mouthwash WITHOUT your glasses on, then DO NOT place your blue listerine (other mouthwashes.....) next to your blue Flash cleaning solution!!!!

Happy Easter day everyone!

Sunshine, blue skies, big Sunday roast with Mum, Dad & the Bears and a walk round the woods and the golf course. The car's clean the washings done and even the garden is tidy... and that's after the fight with the pampas grass!

Spare a thought for MW,a's poorly finger and raise a glass... because we can!

Cheers

Oh, my, how am I going to catch up with everything!!?

First off, Happy Easter everyone! I hope you had a blessed day doing whatever it is you do on Easter Sunday! Unfortunately we spent most of the day travelling from Anstruther back to my folks’ place in Oban. But Charis did get to roll her egg down a wee hill at a wonderful farm shop we found called Loch Leven’s Larder - well worth a visit if you’re in the area! http://www.lochlevenslarder.com/

Our break in Anstruther was wonderful! We stayed at The Craw’s Nest, which was formerly owned by DJ Edith Bowman’s family. The place was full of family photos, awards, accolades, headlines, etc … by the end of our stay, I had Charis doing a wonderful curtsay to the Queen’s photos! The staff were so attentive, anticipating our needs as soon as they arose, especially with Charis - the rooms spotless and well maintained, the meals fantastic …. but the walls were paper thin!!! The first night we had the guy next door serenading us all night with his snoring!!! And the ventelation system for the kitchens, outside the hall to our room, hummed from around 7.30am to 11pm! Not only that, but the kitchens were beneath us and we could hear every slam of every appliance once we’d settled down for bed. Poor Mum was above the dance room, so she had music Friday and Saturday nights! But, do you know what? It really didn’t spoil our break! Granted we probably wouldn’t go back to The Craw’s Nest, but there are so few hotels like that nowadays, that it really is worth a visit.

Anstruther is a beautiful coastal town, with a famous, award-winning Fish Bar and Restaurant. http://www.anstrutherfishbar.co.uk/ We had some lovely walks through the town and along the harbour and to the beach. We visited St Andrews one afternoon too and had a picnic lunch outside the Cathedral ruins. The town has a wonderful atmosphere, steeped in such history, and home to golf and learning.

We spent time in Lower Largo too, where Alexander Selkirk was born, the seaman who’s 4 years on a deserted island inspired Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. We visited a friend there, had a picnic on the beach, and gathered stones, shells and pottery for Charis’s craft bucket. We had a wee wander round Crail too, and a walk along the harbour.

The weather was glorious, though a bit chilly with the breeze and out of the sun. But as we hit the hills and glens of home the drizzle started! Typical! A rest tonight, hopefully download some photos to my site, then we head to Inverness tomorrow. Hope you are all well …can’t wait to catch up with you all!

Huggles, Susan <><
