The first day of the rest of my life...

Sometimes you really need that complete change to remember that the purpose of life is not to be a drudge, but to be lived. I was never so conscious of that than this morning.

I am currently sitting in my new 'office'. It's a converted barn in the middle of bright yellow rapeseed fields in Cambridgeshire. Out of the skylight window I can see a patch of bright blue sky and the tops of some trees in a hedgerow. I am sure I can just about hear birds singing above the humming of the server router. It's generally quiet and I think I will be able to work very well here. The internet connection is (quite obviously if you are reading this) up and running. Much nicer than Cheshunt!

I was up at 6.15am this morning and have done a gym session first thing. I have searched for a more convenient location for my daily calorie burning that doesn't involve me driving half an hour in the wrong direction. Now that I'm paying for my own fuel!

I'm already half way through my edits from chapter 1 of the book, based on some feedback I got on Tuesday night last week. And I have now discovered that there is another Writers Group meeting every month - and it's tomorrow night. It's so nice to have only a handful of appointments in the diary and for all of them to be nice things that I have chosen to do. I know I am so lucky to be in this position and really feel that I want to make the most of it.

Welcome to your new life Moose!

New beginnings can be so exciting!

I'm recovering from Curly's 50th on Saturday night which was one of the best (real as apposed to virtual) party I've been to in ages. There was a Beatles tribute band and some great food and loads of people I've not seen in ages.

Moose,

It's great to hear you sounding really happy and peaceful and pretty pleased with your lot. And why not? You deserve it. Of course, you are right, life really is to be lived and if we're lucky, it's not too much of a drudge. Except when we have to do the weekly shop!

Enjoy this day - but it sounds as though you are doing that nicely.

Good luck on your new beginning, Moose.

The weather is too nice here to be indoors! A bit windy but sun shining, a good day for a walk really - not to be sat inside 'working' - well blogging then!!!

Have a good week everyone.

Moose...you're sounding very very mellow yellow...do you like butter?

Look at where you are, then decide if you need to go to the gym at all? If it's all fields, can't you go a-runnin' and a-gallopin' round there...you'll be perfectly safe...as long as they have those 'Beware Deer' signs along the road...they're pesky blighters and to be avoided at all costs...but at least the great gen pub wouldn't be surprised if you leapt from behind a tree...

Use the fuel you have stored, and enjoy your time ahead!

...and what a cracking do on Friday! One of the best, if not THE best, virtual leaving dos I have ever attended...Ms Shoshyne (HR) has any lost property, for those who have. Lost property that is.

You sound content Moose, my very best wishes for your future.

Your virtual leaving do seemed chaotic, and I'm glad I was only looking in through the window.
Hazel, what on earth were you up to with that barman? Although I did enjoy that version of "I will survive."

Moose - your new surroundings sound brilliant. Enjoy the first day of the rest of your life ...

And don't worry about petrol costs, there is an alternative -

A man was driving down the road and ran out of gas. Just at that
moment, a bee flew in his window.
The bee said, "What seems to be the problem"?
"I'm out of gas."
The bee told the man to wait right there and flew away. Minutes
later, the man watched as an entire swarm of bees flew to his car and into his gas tank. After a few minutes, the bees flew out.
"Try it now," said one bee.
The man turned the ignition key and the car started right up.
"Wow!" the man exclaimed. "What did you put in my gas tank"?

.... wait for it .... you know what's coming ....

Will Mrs Shoshyne have my marbles do you think? I appear to have lost them ...

Anonymous said...

apparently she has a bag of plots.

Nope. Plots aren't mine - I have a full quota. I'm just missing a few marbles. And some of my screws appear to be working loose ...

Happy Monday!

Moose - your new location sounds idyllic - lucky you! I was at the other office today, the one where I can't even read CLP's blog, so feel a bit out of the loop today.

Good day though - good Q1 review, lunch out and then presented with belated leaving card and pressie from my old team!

Mad, fun packed weekend, including girls night out on Saturday. I got lectured - "you don't come out enough any more" and then laughed at for not being able to keep up with the drinks rounds - honestly, I had to leave drinks in 3 bars! Unheard of...

Course, that could have been due to the virtual hangover on Saturday after Friday's shenanigans - I think I peaked too soon!

Little man and his team won their rugby tournament and he even scored a try - so he's happy.

The Madam, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish, but I don't really want to go there just now...

Right, dinner time at the Zoo,

Love all,

S xx.

Friday was great - I so enjoyed the party. Thanks for hosting it.

Have a good week everyone.

A bit of a quiet day all round. I've taken the Curly one back to the airport and waved him back off to Dorra . Am now trying to organise a venue for my big 40 in December (not the easiest time of the year). Have already been told 3 of the potential venues are booked up!!!!

Right I'm off to oggle Wentworth

Good morning bloggers!

Another beautiful day in north Warwickshire and the bears are happy basking in the garden while Tel is blithering on indoors. I may have my organic oats outside with them as it's a shame not to.

Are we really heading for another bank holiday weekend? Has anyone got anything exciting planned?

Lost things..don’t get me started…I went to a real life leaving do in Edinburgh on Saturday..what a state I got in! my necklace fell off, I got it back broken, my ring fell off (ooer) got it back broken, and I lost my watch somewhere on Waverly steps. Might that turn up in lost property? Also…one of those “I didn’t do that, did I?” Moments happened yesterday… Apparently, I was taking photos with my mobile phone of my cleavage and sending them via blue tooth to people in the restaurant! OMG!

This weekend I will be in your neck of the woods, Moose, in sunny Cambridge staying with in laws…It’ll very sober though, my daughter is too young to accompany me to the public house, and Mr C ..Well, he’s a lightweight..1 bottle of Sol and he’s anybodys! (Pendants- where should my apostrophe go in anybodys?)

Blinking salting salmon all day today……have to make it consistent in trials, so in production there’s no probs..I will return with salty, fishy fingers later on..(Sooo GLAM) Have a good day everyone

Love
Caroline

You deserve it honey! What a brilliant answer to prayer! Wishing you all the best for your first week in your new venture!

Will try to catch up with everyone later - got Charis's swimming lesson shortly and have Amy for the day too .... it's hard work with 2 toddlers ... one minute they're warring, the next they are thick as thieves and up to mischief!

Love and hugs to you all, dear friend!

Happy May Day everyone!

I was sent this today and thought I would share it with my virtual friends 'cos it made me laugh, a lot! Here goes :

Jack was about to marry Jill and his father took him to one side
"When I married your mother, the first thing I did when we got home was take off my trousers," he said.
"I gave them to your mother and told her to put them on. When she did, they were enormous on her and she said to me that she couldn't possibly wear them, as they were too large.

"I told her, 'of course they're too big. I wear the trousers in this family and I always will.'

Ever since that day, we have never had a single problem."

Jack took his father's advice and as soon as he got Jill alone after the wedding, he did the same thing; took off his trousers, gave them to Jill and told her to put them on.

Jill said that the trousers were too big and she couldn't possibly wear them.

"Exactly," replied Jack. "I wear the trousers in this relationship and I always will. I don't want you to forget that."

Jill paused and removed her knickers and gave them to Jack.
"Try these on," she said, so he tried them on but they were too small.

"I can't possibly get into your knickers," said Jack.

"Exactly," replied Jill. "And if you don't change your f**king attitude, you never will!"

Caroline...jolly well serves them right for leaving their bluetooth on. I'm sure your cleavage is nothing to be ashamed of...your friends are just jealous that they didn't think of doing it as well. My cleavage was nearly on myspace, but they ran out of um, space...

How on earth do you try a Salmon?

Norman Stanley Salmon. You have pleaded scaly to the charges brought by this court, and it is now my duty to pass sentence.

You are an habitual fish who accepts arrest as an occupational hazard and presumably accepts lobster pots in the same casual manner... We therefore feel constrained to commit you to the maximum net allowed for such offences. You will swim downstream for five years.

Or

...oh, no, didn't like that bit, needs dill...

Any thoughts?

By the way...
Pendants on a chain
Pedants should be chained
Pennants are bunting
a bit like the spice girl
'anybodys' (anybodies, possibly) - plural - works perfectly ok if Mr C is up for a bit of a drunken orgy...but that's not for here...

It's going to be a long day

pps lyndyloo, a beautiful day darn 'ere in south Sussexshire...my occupational therapist is basketing in the sun, while my boss blithers on next door!

Hi guys,

Amanda, your joke is fab! When Mr S and I got married, I remember thinking - who makes up these rules, how come I am left with all the shopping, cleaning and cooking and all Mr S has to do is work on his ability to do the The Times Crossword?! Took me YEARS to get any equality, primarily because women were daft in the 1970's - we were trained to think we were responsible for everything. We've come a long way .... but I have to be honest, I still do all the washing and ironing, so not a lot of progress there!

Caroline, your night out sounds terrific. A really good night out consists of losing at least one personal item and of course we HAVE to say something or do something that when we open our eyes the next morning we think "ohhh nooooo"!

Hazel - sharp, very sharp, as usual!

Hope everyone is having a reasonably good Tuesday. Soon be home time!!

Moose - your new surroundings sound wonderful and I hope you'll be happy there. Well done you!!

The weather is gawjus here in Kent. Being away at the weekend meant that we were blissfully ignorant of the whole earthquake thing until we saw the newspapers on Sunday morning. Happily, it didn't affect our little corner of the county but I feel for those who aren't able to get back into their houses, for who knows how long? Thankful for small mercies me!

Moose's leaving do sounded great and I'm sorry I couldn't be there, although you were all in my thoughts - you bunch of nutters!!

Anyhoo, I have an interview with an agency next Tuesday which could augur well; if not, it's back to t'internet and local papers!

Really pleased for CLP and the gang on their Sony awards - we wouldn't have all got together if it weren't for him starting off his blog and then Moose taking up the mantle - long live the Moose!

Catch y'all later

jollygit xx

PS We didn't need an earthquake at the weekend, if you know what I mean, fnar fnar!!

Afternoon Bloggers!!!

I love my new project - saw a supplier this morning and now back home to do some, (ahem) work, but that means I can check in with you all!

Lovely day here too - sat outside to eat my lunch, but am back indoors now, with a fleece on! My house is sooooo cold - brrr.

Weekend plans - well, someone flies home on Sunday, so I have managed to clear some space in my hectic social diary!! Other than that, no plans, depends on the weather I suppose - garden needs tidying "Daaaaad..."

Right, off to do 'a bit', wil check in later.

S xx mwah xx.

Is it me or has the sunshine made us less bloggy? I can understand all the reasons for spending the spare moments outside rather than inside as even I have had a few brief spells with a glass of water in the garden with the bears today. However I'd just like to wish everyone a very Happy May Day! It used to be my Aunties birthday so I'll raise a glass to her memory later.
